For the most part, they played a good game.

I was mad as hell about them not making any skill plays and not handling passes and flubbing on shots. I didnt think it was the ice's fault since the Knicks have been off for a few days.

Then I realized the Johnnies played an afternoon game at MSG today, which explained why the ice was so horrendous.

1) Hagelin -- Best player on the ice tonight
2) Gaborik -- The Savior
3) Cally -- had a horrible game in regulation then gave Kaleta an emotional spanking.

HM -- Richards. Minus that delayed penalty icing and trying to skate through 4 guys, I thought he had a very solid game.

Dave Maloney said the Kings would be "retarded" if they though about trading Dustin Brown.

Pretty decent game, man they are effective in OT lol.

1. Cally
2. Richards
3. Staal is starting to come around, which is very exciting.

I thought Dubinsky was good too. But he's clearly playing nervous.

Except getting burned on the first goal when he pinched, I thought he played well. When you ask a guy to step up and join the offense he's occasionally going to get burned pinching in. But he almost scored, and he assisted on Hagelin's (not that it was anything more than a little dump in that Hagelin made the most of, but still). Can't fault him for their second either. No one else was playing defense besides him on that play.

Thanks for the links Rothman. Any idea what was said at the end of the Richards interview? Everyone seems to be in on a joke and Richards says "you guys can fill in the blanks", what were they talking about?

Staal looked much better.

He almost had a wicked slapshot goal.

The gap control has been horrendous lately which is the main reason for the defensive breakdowns.

Was at the Garden sitting in the last row of the 200's (228). These 2 teenage Sabres fans situated behind me in the first row of the 300's, two girls. Well after the Sabres first goal the one girl lets out high pitched scream and that was enough to annoy me. Then after the 2nd Sabres goal, she did it 3x, which to me, was stepping over the line and trying to rub it in. Turned around and told them "We heard you the first time" and got a dirty look... After Gabby's goal I am over the top screaming the Rangers goal song and turning around making eye contact with these 2 twerps and then the OT winner was just icing on the cake. Love seeing disappointed fans of the opposing team in our arena.

There was a shoving match in the section behind us between Ranger & Sabres fans and both sets of fans got escorted out. I started the "A-HOLE" chant as they were walking the Sabres fans out of the arena and the usher stops next to me and says "Hey you wanna be next?" Then there was a disturbance behind us in the 300's and we turn around and see this real smaller older dude (who looked like a Rangers fan) getting out of control and this usher, who had to be in his 60's, just nonchalantly pushing this guy up the stairs like it was nothing. No idea what happened but this older usher was pretty badass!

Not that it is necessary but this game is exhibit A for why McD/MDZ will not be traded. Neither of the last 2 goals happens wIthout them.

Exactly. Neither of them are going anywhere.

On an unrelated note, does anyone have the slightest clue what Richards could possibly have been thinking when he iced the puck on the delayed penalty? Hank finally gets to the bench and we have control of the puck ready for a rush down ice with an extra attacker and he just fires it in their zone? Did he have a stroke?

Do you guys know which team has the most OT winners? We have to be up there. The Canucks were 5-0 at one point, but I don't think they won in OT since then.

Yeah, Richards was talking about the playoffs without actually saying the word playoffs. He said he wasn't allowed to use that word.

So, Larry jokingly asked him what word he wasn't allowed to say, and Richards said he couldn't say it. Pretty funny moment, actually.

NEW YORK – The last week has not been the easiest of times for the New York Rangers.

Between incessant and sometimes ridiculous trade rumors, and their worst stretch – one win, two losses, and a shootout loss – since the first three games of the season, the Rangers (39-15-6, 84 pts, 1st in East) needed to regain some of that confidence that comes with being among the NHL’s elite.

So, when Ryan Callahan deked around Patrick Kaleta and wristed the puck past Ryan Miller 2:59 into overtime, the celebration became a release of pent up frustration that has been mounting from the hiccup that has become the past nine days.

“I just loved his celebration,” Rangers coach John Tortorella said of his captain’s glee upon scoring the game-winning goal. “That’s what I enjoyed most about it was the celebration. Good for him. It’s a big win for us, just to try to gain some momentum.”

Also, on my twitter page (www.twitter.com/RothmanHockey), some thoughts about where I think the Rick Nash deal is. Readers Digest: Rangers have the upper hand, the untouchables are still the untouchables, and CBus will have to give in to Rangers demands in order to make a deal with Sather.

Callahan's goal was #1 on SportsCenter's Top Ten Plays. That just speaks volumes of how sweet a goal it was
