If you had the choice

Would you rather

A) Sign Suter in the off season at a reasonnable cap hit
B) Get back Pronger (healthy, but old; by old I mean not in his prime, otherwise the choice would be too obvious)

Without thinking long term, I mean, let's say Suter would have a 2 years contract.

Forgot to make a poll, rofl, damn beers. Could a mod please edit and make a poll with Suter and Pronger? I tried to edit it myself, but can't make a poll.

Suter on a 2 year contract would be a disgusting cap hit with the money he's going to demand, and pretty unrealistic tbh. And unfortunately no one can control if Pronger returns, but it he does, he'll at least be well rested.

I'll take Suter. 6-8 years, $6-7m cap hit

I'm talking about a really fictive situation, I know it doesn't make sense in the reality. Just wondering who does the fan base think is the best defender.

I'm not sure. Pronger no doubt makes players around him better. That begs the question with Suter, will he be a defenseman who makes his partner better? Or has he been leaching off Weber a bit in Nashville. At this rate I'd still take the chance with Suter

I'd take Pronger. His presence along and leadership are huge for the Flyers. In addition he is better offensively, far more intimidating. When healthy he can still be a shutdown defender against other teams top lines (though Suter can say the same for that).

Well we already have Pronger signed for next year so let's go out and get Suter at a reasonable price so we can have both

Pronger is the better player (if 100% healthy) and if it's for just one or 2 years then I take Pronger (again, if 100% healthy).

If we are talking long term then it's no competition, you take Suter (and also try to worm Weber out of Smashville too, lol).

Pronger by a mile. Pure leader. Bomb from the point. Can still hit. Better cap hit. Knows how to win. End of story.

Even if Pronger gets healthy I wouldn't be convinced he could stay health especially not for 2 yrs. I'd take Suter.
