He might fill the role. But what would we give up for him? We just don't have a whole lot a assets left. I believe Carolina needs defensive defensmen, we're not in a position to give one up, and we don't have any picks in the first 3 rounds of this years draft either.

I think he would cost a fair bit, but it would be worth it.

It's surprising when you consider that Richardson actually makes a surprising chunk of change with a $1.175 million cap hit that runs through next year for the totals he's put up so far.

For those who don't want to look it up it's 5 points in 52 games.

He did a real good job in riding the wave of that playoff performance when he played with Clifford and Simmonds.

My list:

- Paul Gaustad - Too expensive? He and Stoll could swicth between the 3rd and the 4th line C-role.

- Ryan Jones - Perfect fit for the RW spot on the 3rd line.

- Chad LaRose - Also a perfect fit on the 3rd line. Too expensive? He has a Stanley Cup ring.

- Paajarvi - Perfect fit on the 2nd line until Gagne returns. Then we'll see!

I'm thinking LA might look to add a guy like LaRose or maybe a vet D like Eaton but I can't see us doing much else.

Penner may be traded but I am even wondering about that now, think DL would look for a 2cd (stretching it) or 3rd maybe.

I am kinding hoping we keep Stoll. I would like to see him sign a one two year deal at a reduced price. If there is any inclination of him not returning(room for Loktionov) send him on his way.

Bernier is a ? to me.
I think Quick is a guy LA will do everything in its power to hold on to. Bernier will be a backup as long as JQ is here. Bishop just went off the market. Schnieder and Bernier are the two top goalies not starting right now. Maybe Harding.
I would hate to move him to Edmonton but I'd be tempted to for MPS.
Tby needs a #1. Could send Roloson back as a throw in with whatever else for Bernier.

Richardson is a little pricey and has had a bad year. Maybe NJ would have interest as their coach seems to like him.

All I got.

Assuming DL has the cap space to resign Quick, I'd love to see MPS in a Kings uniform. Even if it cost us Bernier.

I would consider Bernier + late pick for MPS and R. Jones.

I'm starting to have some interest in Frattin and Kulemin from Toronto as well.

That's a deal I would try to do in the off-season, prior to the draft. If I'm Lombardi I'm gonna try hard to see if I can get Quick to sign an extension this off-season. If Quick does want to stay with this team long term he may see the benefits for the team if he re-signs now rather then in 2013.

I'm sure others have thought about this too, but I was wondering, do you think Philly would've done this deal last summer?

Schenn, Simmonds, JJ, 2012 1st and 2nd for Richards and Carter.

Supposedly, Lombardi already turned down an offer of a first rounder and a top prospect for Bernier. Of course, you don't know where the first rounder was or what constitutes a top prospect but that was the rumor.

Not sure about the Flyers, but I do that deal. If you break it down

Flyers would get:

Top prospect in NHL, but who is often injured. A GREAT 3rd line winger but who's a UFA in 2013, JJ who is signed up to a great deal but is a league high -90 in his career and 2 mid to late round picks

Kings get:

2 elite players entering their prime who are both signed up to long contracts w/ very low cap hits that assure them to be Kings for their rest of their careers. The down side...................................... Alleged partying by tabloids?

I'd make the deal any day of the week!

Gagne should be back before the playoffs and that'll be a great addition at the time. However, moving Johnson makes them thin on the blue line. I'm not worried about Voynov because he's shown the ability to play sound, smart hockey and I think he'll fit in a top four role quite well. Their #6 guy is young no matter who you put in there and if they sustain an injury between now and the playoffs that hole becomes even bigger, especially if it is to a top 4 guy.

So I believe the Kings will look to add a veteran presence on the back end that will play in the #5 or #6 role but be capable of playing top four minutes if necessary. If you scour what may be available there are a few names that pop out that are more than capable of filling that role: Jaroslav Spacek, Sheldon Souray and Lubomir Visnovsky. With both Dallas and Anaheim in the division, both still having a realistic shot at the playoffs with their current team and the probable high price tag, I really don't see either guy moving. That leaves Spacek who could probably be had for a fairly reasonable price. Of course there are other teams out of the playoff picture right now who may seem like sellers (for example, Buffalo, Anaheim, Minnesota,) but I don't think they will be making as many moves as everyone is expecting. The aforementioned teams are only a handful of points out of a playoff spot so I doubt they will be "mailing the season in".

After all is said and done Spacek seems like the best fit at the right price but I'm guessing he may have several suitors because of the lack of real sellers out there this year. Hopefully Lombardi brings in some help back there for insurance purposes. I'd hate to see another potential playoff run end because of another late season injury and no one to step up and fill the void.
Actually, as I go through the list of teams again, Washington seems to have a couple guys that have been healthy scratches lately that fit both the bottom 6 forward and veteran d-man roles in Knuble and Hamrlik. A prospect and a pick would probably get the Kings both guys and it would help the team right now...
