It's a real shame he is still having concussion problems. I wanted LA to win the cup if not Philly for Richie and Gags but now I'm undecided because of the puke Carter being on the same team.

He's the only Flyers jersey I own. ****ing love the guy. Seriously, if we could get him for a steal of a price, I would sign him in a heartbeat.

Funny, was just thinking the same thing a couple days ago. And not for the first time since he left...

He was awesome. Shame about his health issues. Would love a healthy Gagne back, but as things stand, I'm fine with him being on Flyers West Coast.

Holmgren got slated for that move ,but It appears to have worked out quite nicely for the flyers. Gagne is a shell of his former self. I wouldn't want to see him decline for the flyers.

I wanted him to retire as a flyer, but I could say that about a few other people as well.

Send a message via AIM to JagerPuck
I was playing NHL 11 earlier this week and saw Gagne on the roster, cried a little inside.

I disagree. He had 1 more year remaining on his deal at the time. He put up 40 pts in 63 games which isn't too shabby. Your statement makes the assumption that he'd still be here for this year.

You will never catch me saying the move worked out well for the Flyers. We gave away a 40 pt player, who was here for 10 years, for a contract abomination that we have buried in the minors.

I remember when his first season and I had always hoped he would be a Flyer for life. Plus his birthday is coming up soon.

He wouldn't have been re-signed anyways.

The other part was, that if Holmgren was going to trade him to Tampa Bay, he should have traded him for Meszaros.

I liked Gagne's Cribs episode, "We are in my kitchen. We spend a lot of time here... well not me, my wife."

I would still say Gagne was still a shell of his former self. Being a player known as a goal scoring sniper though he occasionally showed flashes of it his shot was really never the same after the 08-09 season. He went from a great shot to an average shot.

Gags was my favorite Flyer until the day he got traded. Still sad about that.

Don't we all miss him? He was such a great player and a great team guy, there's no way you can not like him. He's still concussed, though.

I don't miss him. Never really was a big Gagne fan. I respected how strong he was defensively, but he always had trouble, form wise, returning from injury, and he wasn't very effective offensively if he didn't have a very good - elite center.

His offensive game was always overrated. It's still a crime to trade him for Matt Walker, though.

On another note, I'm more bitter about how Keith Primeau's career ended.

Oh I agree he was a shell of himself. My point is simply that we did not "make out well" in that trade. Just because Gagne wasn't what he once was, doesn't mean giving him away for less than nothing (a contract abomination we've stuck in the AHL) worked out.

Trading him for Walker was a salary dump and I think that since he turned down being captain/injuries/upcoming UFA the organization felt that he didn't have to be part of the plans for the future. Odds are he might have left the team anyway for more money if he was healthy enough to be offered the type of contract he wanted.

I always felt they needed to move on him ( not re-sign him), but that deal was still awful regardless of what is going on with him now. They got horrible value for him. Walker has been a negative.

Watching carter and richards together yesterday was surreal. I think this may be the best thing for them and their careers. Both needed a wake up call and the philly media was just bringing them down. Now that they are reunited they have a second chance and a new city to start anew. Hopefully they learn from everything and get back to the being the players they once were.
