We have to draft a goalie anyway this year, I would not mind a 3rd + for him.

Gaunce makes a ton of sense as well if we've been scouting the Avs, and if Murray is still quite adamant about making a real ''hockey trade'' Joey Hishon(yes I know he's still recovering) could be a guy we might be looking at if the price is right(Mark Reeds coached the kid all throughout junior) and a deal makes sense for both sides.

Gotta believe Colorado has at least some interest in Patty Weircioch (played his university hockey in Denver).

According to Blues fans and analysts all it will take is probably a 3rd.

I really like Hishon, don't get me wrong, but I have this bad gut feeling he's going to make Pascal Leclaire look like Chuck Norris in the durability department.

... and Emerica's idea about Cowen for Stastny...

Our top prospects like 5 or 6 deep are Lehner and a bunch of forwards.
Our defense corps is old, expensive and full of soon to be UFA's.
Yet, our prospect pool is now heavily loaded full of forwards now.

We can't make any deal like this, the Turris/Rundblad deal was as far as we can go... now we need D-men very badly to replace the guys we're going to lose in the next season or two. I'm not even sure that we have any good bets to replace those guys at all, let alone being able to trade the few defensive prospects that we have left for a forward that we couldn't possibly have a need for.

If Murray is in fact interested in Bishop, I'd love for him to snag Stewart in the same deal.
Unsure of what the cost would be though....but I think he'd fit in nicely in Greening's spot.

Stewart's a right wing. But I'd still try to grab him anyway. RFA this year, still 24 years old and could be the classic case of a guy who needs a top playmaking center to achieve his potential. In short, he's exactly the kind of move Murray is looking to make. Not to mention he's a big body with great hands.

TSN has him listed RW/LW so Im figuring we could at least try him there. Regardless, Greening just isnt cutting it right now...

What would St Louis realistically want for Bishop + Stewart?

My guess would be Foligno + 1st round pick or Foligno + two prospects or maybe just draft picks/prospects. I don't think Bishop is going to hold too much worth in trade as St. Louis is for sure going to lose the guy to free agency this year since he hasn't played the requisite number of games and it's hugely doubtful that he's going to become the starter in St. Louis through the end of the year. Stewart has also probably dropped in value a bit. He's got 13 goals and 24 points this year and his ice time has dropped considerably from roughly 19 minutes per game to start the year (ie. top line forward) to under 15 minutes per game for the last two months (ie. bottom 6 forward) with exceptions the odd game where he played slightly more.

It would definitely be an interesting trade. Hard to assess the value of a guy who clearly has the physical tools and skills to be a successful player but who's clearly having a really disappointing year. Could just be one of those things where he's not the kind of guy that fits in to a Ken Hitchcock system.

Question is.... If we get Bishop, and he doesnt come with an extension... Do we ride him out for the rest of the season to keep him an RFA??

He needs to play 17 games this season to remain an RFA, If he doesnt, he is a UFA... Id imagine thats why theyd like to trade for him with a contract

I made a thread awhile ago saying we needed another strong prospect in goal and people *****ed at me lol. Funny how a sandwhich accident changes perspectives.

I hope if we get Bishop that we send Mike McKinnon back. He is a st louis kid. Would be good for him.

Don't see Robin Lehner reacting to positively to #Sens bringing in another tender...will he gut it out or head back to Sweden?

Both sides appear ok with #Sens speaking with Bishop before trade is made. Likely to agree on 1 yr. extension #Blues

Honestly, I love Lehner, but if he can't deal with not being an NHL goalie at 20 years old, then that is going to be an issue going forward.

I know he is cocky (in a good way), but goalies who can legit play in the NHL at 20 are rare, and he's going to have to realize he will need to be the starter somewhere else if he wants to be the starter here, and the AHL is the best spot for his development ATM. Playing backup to Andy is not going to help him see pro-caliber shots during the heat of a meaningful game, and won't help him be a better goalie in the future.

Just my $0.02, though...

Bringing in Bishop is nothing but a good idea. I'm the biggest Lehner fan in the world and 100% believe he's NHL ready along with not a ton to learn in the AHL but goaltender depth within the organization is much more important giving Lehner time in the NHL on a perminate basis.

Bishop is a perfect example of a guy that has paid a ton of dues before he got his chance. Lehner is there/almost there but this is better for the organization as opposed to the individual.

A 1 year extension would be perfect.
