That's a possibility, but if you ask me, I think Tampa has their sights set on a guy like Schneider or Bernier in the offseason. They're in "Go Big Or Go Home" territory with their goaltending situation right now, IMO.

Although clearly, I have no tangible proof for that. Just a hunch.

If the Sens end up meeting the Bruins in the playoffs, that is if they make the playoffs, then I would be surprised if they traded their toughness. Over a 7 game series it will be very tough on some guys if Lucic & Thorton are allowed to run wild. How long is Horton out for?

My guess is that Murray makes no moves at the deadline, he will hold on to his blue chip prospects & 1st rd pick which seems to be what every other team wants. I guess there is no interest in some of the other prospects we have.

Bishop update (as per Andy Strickland: @andystrickland)
Quote:
The Senators and Blues appear to be closing in on a deal that would send the 6'7 Ben Bishop to Ottawa. The Blues are likely to get a draft pick in return.

Ottawa won't pull the trigger on the deal until they know Bishop will sign an extension to stay beyond this season. A one-year, one-way deal will likely be agreed to.

It appears the Blues are ok with allowing Ottawa to speak to Bishop before the deal is completed. Art the very least a verbal agreement will be made.
There was also some stuff on him speculating about Lehner's attitude, but honestly, I'll trust Strickland on the St Louis Blues side of the story, but leave it to someone more connected to the Sens organization to speculate on the mental stability of Sens prospects.

Basically the same stuff he tweeted, but he's moving it from it simply being a tweet to a slightly more formal format. It's worth noting, I suppose.

Stay tuned?

Looks like you were right sir.

If all they gave up was a draft pick for Bishop then that's a fantastic deal for Ottawa. People wanted to draft a goalie with the 3rd round pick this year... well they just did.

With the massive backlog of prospects we have, I have no issue with the future 2nd. We really needed another young goalie in case Lehner doesn't pan out, which is a huge possibility with goalies.

DONE DEAL!

I'm totally fine with a 2nd round pick. It sounds like it's a conditional pick, from what I heard. Maybe linked with a contract extension?

If Bishop is with the org long term, will be worth it. 2nd rounder will be MORE than worth it. A 3rd rounder would have been an absolute STEAL. 2nd rounder is very fair.

I doubt he'll fall to us.

Clitsome has "Edmonton" written all over him.

The compensation for Bishop will be a draft pick, as high as a second-round pick. #stlblues

Remember last night when only Karlsson was able to move the puck up ice?

Clitsome would be amazing to help in that regard. I wish he falls to us.

Also, I think we still make another trade for a top 6.

my ideal deadline day scenario is us grabbing Clitsome off waivers and landing Galiardi for peanuts from the Avs.

Michalek-Spezza-Butler
Galiardi-Turris-Alfie
Greening-Smith-Neil
Foligno-O'Brien-Condra
Konopka/Daug/Winny?

Kuba-Karlsson
Phillips-Clitsome
Cowen-Gonchar
Lee/Carks

Andy
Bishop

would be a great roster for us heading into the playoffs.

I would love to get Galiardi for scraps but I was thinking someone who had more skill to his element.

Maybe both Galiardi and Jones?

Avs won't be dealing Galiardi for peanuts. They're still in the hunt for a playoff spot too. Any deal they've made will be a "hockey deal", with another NHL player coming back.

I'm not so sure Jones will be traded anymore. He has 12 points in his last 10 games.

Waivers over the weekend have to wait till Monday to go through. So we'll know at 12 tomorrow but I expect he doesn't make it to us. Too many bad teams in need of defenders.

I want Clitsome, just to say we have Clitsome on our team.

I'm pretty excited for tomorrow. I love trade deadline day for some reason.

Glad to see Bishop on his way over here. a 2013 2nd Round Pick seems like fair value for the top AHL goalie, IMO. also, he's huge. He wont need as much protecting as most goalies, but he'll get it anyway. And Lehner is a big guy too. Our future back end looks intimidating, especially if Gryba also makes the NHL with Ottawa at some point, and Patrick Wiercioch too. Best part is it will be a mobile defense as well.

My wish list for deadline day:

Sam Gagner

or

Dustin Brown

Either one is unlikely, but would be amazing!
