Suter is probably praying Nash doesn't come here so he can still leave.

Is anyone else still skeptical that this offer really exists. I know Boclair is typically somewhat reliable, but I have a hard time believing it. Has anyone anywhere else reported it?

One, that's a whopper of a package - bigger than anything that Nashville has ever done.

Next, that contract doesn't jive with the whole Nashville is smart spenders M.O. 7.8 mil for Rick Nash, eh, not killer, but not ideal. And Nashville doesn't do contracts that are not ideal.

I'd like to see it happen. Wilson is replaced by Nash, Ellis is a steep price to pay, but you'd hope this would spur 6/20 to re-up and that would cover that, Linback/1st is expendable. I'm just not getting my hopes up.

I really thought this deal would have SK/Erat/Horny in it. I just don't see us taking on over 7 million and only sending back Willy's cap hit...

Is this fact that's what was offered?

Too much to think about on this potential trade. My gut tells me it won't happen, so I will resist the wasted thinking

Even if this move doesn't work, it's rather brilliant by Poile. He forces CBJ to eat Nash for another year or forces another team to go over-the-top with their offer to take Nash. OR, he has to go to Nashville. It's all win-win right now for us and even if we don't get Nash I know Poile is going to have something waiting in the shadows
Not necessarily. If they don't want to deal with us, they don't have to. The offer that's been presented by Poile doesn't have that much of an effect on the asking price if we're not even on the list of possible destinations to begin with. I firmly believe we can out-bid the others, just depends on whether or not Nash wants to come here.

"Xm Home Ice is reporting the Predators have a deal on the table of Ellis,Wilson, Laakso, and a #1 for Nash"

Sounds like it to me, but you never know with how unreliable some media sources are.

I'm just really hoping we at least get an AK46 or some help on offense if this doesn't materialize. I know we're solid as it stands, but to go from possibly Rick Nash to nothing would be kindof a buzzkill.

Essentially we are sending back most of Nash's cap it. Next year Willy is a RFA and we'd have to consider extension of his contract and of course paying him more. It's possible he'd be asking somewhere in the 3-4 million range. Obviously not as much as Nash...but possible that he wants a bit more and same thing goes for SK and a few others...we're going to be doing some contract juggling here for the next year or two whether we get Nash or not.

According to The Columbus Dispatch, the Bruins, Kings, Rangers, Sharks and Maple Leafs are on the list of approved teams that Nash would approve joining. The report also states that Columbus general manager Scott Howson is going to be looking for a lot in return in a potential trade for the All-Star. The Dispatch reports that Columbus will look to acquire "one young roster player with a combination of top prospects and quality draft picks."

One thing that Nash does is disrupt our current negotiation of contracts. I know he's a very very special player, but 8Million is alot, and some players may be wanting more as a result. This could be a cap team very quickly. But you know what...it's about time that happened.

Are there any backups to the rumor (to the original rumor) that it may have been Lindback not Laakso?

It's going to come down to if Nash wants to play for a consistently good team or if he wants to play in a big market.

Oh okay. New around here. Didn't know it was banned from here. Will try deleting it. Why is it banned from here??? Just curious. Basically had the same list as posted above except Vancouver was added to it.

i hope it's

Nash +Sanford

for

Wilson + Ellis + Laakso + 1st

Then Nashville's lineup could look like this:

Erat-Fisher-Nash
Hornqvist-Legwand-SK
Halischuk-Smith-Tootoo
Bourque-Spaling-Yip
McG

Maybe he's fearing all the cheesy marketing campaigns we would use him for.

And the salary cap for next year assuming Suter and Weber sign 7M each?

I agree. Suter just seems like he doesn't want to stay in Nashville. I mean I could be wrong but just the vibe I get from him. If he stays great and if not, oh well not much we can do to make him stay if he doesn't want to. I still think the Preds have alot of good players on it's team to fill in the gap or will get the needed pieces to fill in the gap if he splits. Still will be hard to replace him though. The person I'm more worried about leaving though is Weber. Now if Weber leaves too then that wouldn't be good since he's more the backbone of this team w/ his slap shot and physical presence. But I trust the Preds management to be able to find the players to help the Preds team if needed. Hopefully Suter/Weber resign and we don't have to worry about finding replacements in the future because they make a great combo and help add to the team alot.
