If you think the Devils have had shootout success this season, consider this...
The Oilers hold the current record with 15 shootout wins in a season. They went 15-4 in 07-08, while missing the playoffs with 41 wins and 88 points.
The 05-06 stars have the "best" single season shootout record at 12-1, in the year of the Jussi Jokinen.
In contrast, the Washington Capitals of 06-07 earned the bonus point only once in twelve tries in their woeful 70 point campaign.
The 09-10 Coyotes have had the most shootouts in a single season with 20 in 08-09, where they went 14-6. This gave their record an absurd artificial boost, earning them a 50 win season. 1 in 4 of their regular season games ended in a shootout.
This season's Carolina Hurricanes have a shot at history to be the first club since the implementation of the shootout to not win one over the course of an entire season.
"I have something better than proof: I have anecdotal evidence."
I'm not worried about Philly catching us. We only play them one more time ands we own them. Also, since the turn of the new year they've had about a .500 record. There are only so many 5-4 games you can win.
What I would give for the former... Kitchner Ranger Skinner, man can that kid play. If he doesn't get more concussions and keeps developing I think he will be one of the best in the league, kid can play. He should have had 5 assists tonight no problem, they were all filthy set ups that were shot right into Theodore.... Even if his back was turned. Go watch the highlights, unreal
Man, Phoenix comes out of nowhere to claim the lead in the division, giving them 3rd in the conference. Where does that come from all of a sudden? That is surprising
It's a combination of the Coyotes going on a run and the Sharks not playing well. That being said, the Sharks still have two games in hand. All else being equal, they would need 3 points in the two games to retake the division, since the Coyotes would have the tiebreaker if the Sharks only got 2.
