What about Lang?

I know it's most likely that this won't happen, but do you think the OIL could get this guy?

Washington takes some of his salary and Edmonton gives Comrie and something else.

What do you think?

Althoug he would solve our 1st line center problem completely, it won't happen. He is 32, makes $5 000 000 a year(not sure on contract length either). He would be lost to free agency within a year or 2, with us, nothing left to show for the Comrie trade, bad move IMO.

Heh, he would join our team and be Goals/Assists/Points leader across the board. My question is how good is he in the face off circle. A crutial need for us right now is someone who can play the Defensive conscience of the 1st line, win the faceoffs to gain puck posession in the offensive zones, and just the right amount of finish(a blend of Hemsky's playmaking and Smyth's finish).

Maybe Horcoff and $2 million of lang's contract paid(again, not sure if it extends beyond this season). With Niinimaki and Poulliut in the pipeline, and Stoll looking hungry to stay in the lineup, Horcoff could be made expendable. WSH is looking to slash payroll, a young center like Horcoff who is signed to a reasonable 3 year contract might look like what they need for the future. If its not enough, include chimera or a pick or mid level prospect.

Smyth-Lang-Hemsky
Torres-York-Dvorak
Moreau-Reasoner-Pisani
Isbister-Stoll-Laraque

Thats 4 solid lines rolling into the playoffs(hopefully)

according to this link

Lang signed a 5m contract for 5years so if Washington were to put cash into this deal then as Lowe I'd demand they pay 3m per year (not that its going to happen) to make the contract more affordable.

personally i wouldn't go to lang
