Ok, so when we're in a game 7, up by 1 with 2 mins left, Prust ices the puck, and Boyle gets waived out of the circle and Fedotenko steps in to take the face off, you're going to tell me faceoffs aren't important? And it's not like this situation is all that uncommon. It happens multiple times per game.
You can't win a game if you never have the puck. Winning key faceoffs gives us the puck.
I agree. Faceoffs are such a fundamental part of the game. So many goals are scored or not scored directly as a result of winning or not winning an offensive or defensive zone draw. It's really vitally important... particularly in the playoffs.
I can see Slats paying the rental price for Oduya. Not sure why you'd have to (or either side would want to) include Woywitka.
(And I would much rather the player going the other way be someone like Bourque since I personally think Yogan has a chance to be our next diamond in the rough.)
the Jets are in first right now right? Why do they move him? they wont now
I go Gaustad first, Ott second even if csts alot.........guys like Pahlsson 3rd
EDIT- so may be wrong
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Johnny Oduya (UFA July 1) getting the most traction on Jets... no guarantee he'll move but he's most likely of the Jets to be dealt.
Would offer Zuccarello, Eminger.........Jets still get some bodies for a playoff run

id like Gaustad Ott and maybe a guy that hasnt been mentioned in Brandon Sutter....with Ruutu signed and I think Tlusty is an RFA and needs to get signed i can see them trading a forward..

LOL!!!!
Sure it does, so what if Fed's wins the draw in your scenario ? It happens multiple times a game...
Look, as I stated already, I'm not trying to downplay the importance of winning faceoff's, but let's not act like we've lost 15 games becuse we only won 49.5% of the faceoff's in any particular game. My only point being the type of players who's names are being tossed around we already have minus a better faceoff percentage.?? That's all...

So you're saying faceoffs are important but you don't want to bring in a guy that can actually contribute to us winning them. Got it.
more than just the faceoff thing, our bottom 6 is pretty weak in terms of providing any offense support...rupp and feds due to injuries or whatever have provided little. dubinsky, boyle and prust have forgotten how to score...biggest threat from those lines might be john mitchell
so while its not the big impact move that rick nash would be, a smaller secondary deal for a guy like david jones that could add some offensive punch to the 3rd line (especially if dubi is heading to clb) wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Me: A defenseman, offense
You: A player with better faceoff numbers who outside of those numbers we already have 7 of..Which is why I use the word "Redundant "...
And if we want to get technical sshmecnical about it, maybe if we had another top six guy who could actually finish, we might be up by more than one goal against Columbus, Buffalo, NJ, etc...Thus the importance of that faceoff Isn't so damn crucial. Our lack of finish keeps EVERY team in the NHL in games, whether it's Columbus or Detroit, it's disgusting.
They won't move him. Not this season. When the Lightning decide to part with MSL, I would be shocked if he ended up anywhere but the Rangers. If the Bolts struggle next season, I could see it happening a year from now.
