In other news, Rangers are looking at other options. Secondary scoring, and a bottom pair defenseman remains on list.

Seeing as action is likely going to pick up, and a lot of trade deadline discussion is being brought into the Nash thread, might as well give it it's own thread.

Let's eh go.

Smyth wants to stay in Edmonton. They're trying to work on an extension.

Kostitsyn I could see, and would welcome (Andrei, of course, Sergei in all likelihood isn't available).

Hoping maybe for a player like Chris Stewart. Maybe something like Erixon+ for him. I don't know, just spitballing for plan B.

Class from 10-1050 then an exam from 11 - whenever I finish ... run to get lunch on campus, zoom home...I bet if something NYR related goes down it will happen in that time span

Am I the only one who laughs when they see "GDT" at the front of this thread? It is appropriate, don't get me wrong, I just laugh. Game Day Thread

I'm a big fan of Erixon and I say no to that move. Chris Stewart has been struggling and is a big question mark going forward. Even when he was producing, he was called up by his coach for lazy play. He's not a power-forward and he's not that good defensively. I'd take him if it were for a lesser prospect like say Thomas.

Stewart's value is just a few notches above Wolski's. He is not even worth Erixon. More like Zucc+ if anything. Plus, St. Louis has the same amount of defensive depth as we do.

I'd trade Erixon for Nash, but there's no way in hell I'm dealing him for Chris Stewart or some rental.

I'm not necessarily advocating that move, just speculating on what it would take.

St. Louis has no reason to move Stewart. He's starting to play a stronger game. He MAY be available, though, depending on Hitchcock's opinion of him.

I wouldn't bet on that.

Also, no way this team deals Erixon for Stewart.

Ugh god no. Trading Erixon for a rental would be a disaster. That has the Mattias Norstrom trade written all over it again. A young promising defenseman gets traded for a rental and then becomes a mainstay in the league for another 13 years after the trade happens.

I would be ok with AK too, but he seems to be snake bitten like Dubinsky is. I would rather pay more and try to find more of a sure thing. All we need is to bring in AK and for him to remain snakebitten. We all know what will happen - Torts will give him Wolski's seat in the stands.

Is Brown off the market officially? He'd be a great addition and would cost us less than Nash.

Also, someone mentioned Oduya in another thread. I'd like him but don't see the Jets trading him, seeing as how they're in the playoff hunt.

Kostitsyn plays a style different from Wolski. He's bigger, stronger, and more of a goal scorer. I think he'd be a great fit with Richards, he's got a very good wrist shot.

I think Torts would be fine with AK. He's actually physical, and can hit with the best of them.

is it me or does anyone else think the Rangers need more speed up front??? Erik Cole would be a good addition if he didnt have more than 2 years on his contract.

Johnny Cakes would tolerate AK. He wouldn't be thrilled with some of AK's decision making at either end of the ice. He'd bring enough offense that Torts would grit his teeth through it, though.

Yeah, if Montreal were actually interested in moving him.

He's been their best forward this year with David Deharnais and Max Paccioretty.

It isn't over until it's over, but it's looking to be close to over.

If Nash isn't a Ranger in the next few hours, I'd say there's no chance he's one until the summer, if ever.
