Penguins are going to roll over this team in a best of 7 series when they get Crosby back.
Let's everyone take a deep breath. The Bruins went through a couple of playoff runs before they won the cup. Those growing pains are necessary for every team. The difference between this team and a lot of past Ranger teams is that if we don't win it all this year, it's not the end of the world. The Rangers will be good for quite a long time, because for once, they were built to be. Also, we may not even get matched against Pittsburgh during the playoffs.
When 3pm comes tomorrow and Nash is not on the Rangers, I will believe we are out.
Until then, all I see is posturing on both sides.
We'll see.
At this point I want Sather to move on just to spite Howson and then re-start talks in the summer (or sign Parise).

Tomorrow is going to be pretty uneventful it seems.
Edit: Translation: "Oh God please don't make me talk about tweeners for 4th round picks all day tomorrow!"

Even though I think the rangers have really backed away at this point the thing that's interests me is if Howson is really trying to play chicken I want to see if he blinks.
I think he's taken a hard line stance throughout this process and glen believes he can't get a deal done but I wonder if time gets closer if Howson will lower his offer some. I don't think he will unfortunately.
When you get that many concussions, you are going to get another big one. Then you are out for a long time, come back and get another one. It happened with Lindros's brother too. I knew a couple guys a long time ago who were division 1 caliber football players. one had 5 concussions throughout high school the other had 2. They didn't even last a year in college football because they go into it and get concussions. It's not low pointing out that concussions are career enders. Especially the rate and type Crosby is getting.
I dunno. I know where your coming from but I think Crosby has yet to get close to that point.

Let's not forget that Craig Patrick is arse deep in this with S.Howson. Once I heard they were having their "meeting of the minds" yesterday, I started to think that this wasn't going to happen.
I mean, Patrick was absolutley pounded in the Jagr trade with the Caps. Something I'm sure he has never forgotten.

That's exactly what it is. This is classic Sather, we're talking about a veteran here, this isn't his first big fish. If Howson is truly demanding that extra young-star player like MDZ, Couture, and Ellis, no one is going to give in. Sather is letting Howson find that out for himself, then he'll sweep back in with a final offer for Scotty to weigh his options with.

I hope not. We're already at the point where I question whether the offer is too much when considering Nash's production and contract (assuming it's Brooks' report of: Dubinsky + Erixon + Another Highly Regarded Prospect + 1st round pick at least). Certainly would not want to go any higher.
Get Nash for what he is comfortable giving up for him and haed into the Post season with 2 very real and legit snipers on LW and RW.
Don't get Nash and retain a VERY attractive group of promising youngsters and head into the post season with a solid enough team that will probably start March in 1st in the Eastern Conference.
Sather knows the position he is in. Howson is in over his head here.

Bold strategy cotton. Lets see how it works out for them.
