Gaustad.

Not a game breaker. But, adds more size and grit. Faceoffs. Net presence. PK. He can contribute.

Assuming the Nash trade is off.

I would like to see us upgrade our third line. Both Boyle and Prust should be playing on the 4th line. I would add someone like Jones or Galiardi and put Prust on the 4th line.

Because that type of goal happens maybe once or twice a season. It took no skill.

I'm amused that with all the talk about the lack of sellers because more teams are still 'in it', the #1 team in the East traded two roster players who are now playing for other teams, and they haven't added an NHL player.

The players were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of hat-tricks danced in their heads.
And Bettman and Daly and their salary cap,
Had just settled their brains for a long winter’s nap.

When down in Columbus there was such a clatter,
**lund awoke from him slumber to see what was the matter.
Away to his iPad he flew like a flash,
To open Mozilla and he googled "Rick Nash".

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his "work",
And filled all them twitter sites, with rumors for jerks.
And layed his long finger up inside of his nose,
And gave it a nod, and a wild idea it arose!

He sprang to his chair, to give his followers a scoop,
And they all believed him - although it was poop.
So he thought up a lie, a fib & a myth
And he blurted out names, like Brown, Schenn, Ott and Smyth

And he said just believe me cuz IŽm so well connected
I might not have pedigree but whats to be expected
By tommorrow at three Nash will be a Leaf
Just become a subscriber and IŽll give you a brief

But most of us knew it was all BS he claimed
So we called him out saying you should be ashamed
But we heard him exclaim, Guys I know I am right,
"Good pickings tomorrow, and to all a good-night!"
Brilliant

I actually like the way Slats has played this.

He put the absolute best offer he could on the table, and Howson folded. For all the offensive woe's the Rangers have had, its not worth trading 2 of your cornerstone D-Men for Rick Nash.

There are less than 24 hours in the deadline. Either Columbus softens its demands and the deal happens, or the Rangers go into the trade deadline with its assets intact, make a few minor deals, and maybe try to pull off an unexpected one.

Happy Sather isn't giving in.

I definitely wouldn't mind grabbing Kostitsyn or Jones if they're available, and then maybe a defenseman like O'Brien. Maybe a faceoff specialist as well.

And the 4-3 win? Fluke, right?
Season series is 2-2, not 4-0.

Last year's season series against the Craps was 3-1, including 6-0, 7-0 blowouts in our favor. We lost in 5. Anything can happen in the playoffs.

4-3 wasn't a fluke, they were pretty banged up that game too (as they have been all season). But they dominated us in 3 of 4 games. The difference is that Caps team was more talented than that Rangers team and this Penguins team (especially with Crosby) is more talented than the Rangers.

I think you can argue that Vancouver was more talented than Boston last year too.

I was thinking the same thing. There might be a few teams out there interested in him, especially if the market is so thin.

Just a practical question. There is a deadline day-show on TV right? Does anyone know which channel it will be on?

Dubi has the skills , size and speed to shut down other Centers if he was assigned that task . If he could do that fairly well...he would not have to score to be valuable .

I took the day off work tomorrow for the deadline, better not be "uneventful ", I'll be a tad upset...It's gonna be a long day, maybe a Nash deal gets done, maybe we still move Dubi in a similar deal for an offensive threat. Hope it gets interesting....

I would prefer not to trade Dubisnky. Now that we're not dealing for Nash we don't have to.

I'd offer AA + McIlrath + Thomas + 1st for Brown.

Edit: on second thought, that would leave our LW depth way too weak. Sauer? There's really no one from our starting players I would want to give up to be honest. That may not be entirely realistic, but it's the truth.

So, a 45 point player and two top prospects+a first for a 55 point player?

I fear that the implosion that will occur on these boards tomorrow if the Rangers don't make a "major" move will rival that of the 2009-10 season when the Rangers stood pat at the deadline.

The market is thin so I'm not expecting much more than a bottom pairing defenseman and/or a bottom 6 forward.

ZOMFG! The sky is falling! We didn't get Nash! What are we gonna do?!!!!

We are gonna relax. That's what we're gonna do. This team has been built very well through patience and good drafting. I can't predict the future, but I do think that most of the things I am about to state have a strong probability of being true next year.

1) Marc Staal will be much better as the rust continues to fall off and he will be in better shape.
2) Brad Richards will have had a full year playing within our system and will be better.
3) Ryan McDonagh will continue to be a beast.
4) Michael Del Zotto will continue the steady improvement that he has shown this season and will be better.
5) Tim Erixon will have a spot on the bottom pairing and will be a huge upgrade over Emi/Woy/Bickell
6) Chris Kreider will be signed. We don't know what he will be yet, but the one thing we can't deny is that we will have a skater on the team who is EVEN FASTER THAN HAGELIN... and bigger too.
7) Hank, Girardi, Cally and Gabby will continue to be Hank, Girardi, Cally and Gabby
8) Dubi will shake off his "OMG! I HAVE to earn my big salary!" jitters and return to the Dubi we have come to know and love.
9) Stepan only has room to grow.
10) Parise is only one option for next year. There may (and most likely will) be other players just as (or nearly as) talented as Nash for the same or less money without us having to give up any prospects or picks.

To all of the posters worried about Pittsburgh steamrolling us in the playoffs...

Take a deep, cleansing breath...

This team is fine and will only get better...

Don't panic.

Are you seriously going to compare a one and done playoff like football to a best of 7 sport like hockey? That Devils team had to be one of the least talented cup winners up front. As far as Boston and Vancouver. First of all Vancouver is beat up. Second if we have to rely on Hank playing series of his life like Thomas did and Fleury imploding like Luongo did I don't like our chances.

Dubinsky on his contract<<<<<Anisimov on his contract. I'd say Dubinsky<Anisimov period. I'm really getting sick of Dubinsky.
