I have a set asking price. I know that asking price is alot more than what it's worth, but I allow room for negotiation.

However, when the asset has more than one interested buyer you can play the game that the other guy just upped his offer so now the asking price just went up.

In order to ensure it works, you feel out the buyers to gauge their level of interest to make sure you are not spinning your wheels.

It works.

Like I said - it works when you've got an actual auction.

Bluffing it - especially when you're getting a reasonable offer from the other side - in a one horse race is irresponsible and borderline imbecilic, especially when the guy on the other side of the table is about as savvy as they come.

Thank you kindly. Perhaps one of our Russian speaking brethren can confirm the proper spelling.

One of these two.

I really like the corniness of the latter, but the former is more sophisticated.

You can't misspell it because Russian is in cyrillic. The pronunciation is correct though.

He's not willing to waive it to go anywhere. And he may very well opt not to waive it in the future.

I just don't understand.

If Howson plans on trading Nash, then WHY does he believe he would get more in the offseason? This is just comical. He isn't changing his list. The same 5 teams will be after him, and I'm 98% sure the same 5 teams will NOT be offering up the players Howson will/does want.

Twit.

I certainly would not pay more during the summer, given the myriad of other options than will be available.

And what exactly makes you think that? Crappy city + crappy team. I've got a sneaky feeling he'd accept a trade in the offseason.

The ONLY thing I can figure out is that he thinks that at least 4 of the 5 teams on Nash's list will miss out on the Cup and will therefore be looking to make changes and perhaps be willing to pay more?

Of course, this is COMPLETELY overlooking the fact that there will be a plethora of other options available to said teams AND they are likely to be waaaay more gunshy of picking up his contract with the impending CBA uncertainty over the summer when it's a) much closer and b) the opportunity to win a cup beforehand no longer exists to mitigate the risk.

EDIT: oh yeah, and Howson is clearly a ****-tard. That's the other reason.

Again, thank you. If anything, waiting until the summer adds competition in the Rangers may opt to make a run at Parise or maybe the Ducks put one of their Big Three on the market.

howson is an idiot, sather is playing this whole thing perfectly using the media etc, howson imo is trying the same tactics but hes just too stupid to realize hes not getting more for Nash over the summer and hes digging himself a deeper and deeper hole.
