Cliche, Moller, a 2nd (2013), and a 3rd (2014)??? How about Weal?

All of those together would be a dramatic overpayment. You could probably land him for a 2nd and a mid level prospect, or just a decent prospect.

Done, no takebacks. This would make Darcy Regier give Lomabardi the first call any time he was trying to dump anyone.

Nick Shore + 2nd? Admittedly, it's Step 1 of my diabolical plan to lure Drew Shore to Buffalo when he doesn't sign with Florida next year.

Acquire Nick Shore
Acquire Drew Shore
?????
Profit

How about Bud Holloway, a 3rd (2013), and a 4th (2014)? Is that still paying too much?

See and now you're underpaying I think, give us Moller+2nd+3rd (2013) and we're prolly all set here.

I don't follow the logic on why one would think the Kings would be interested in someone like Gaustad - especially since he doesn't bring anything that Stoll doesn't and both are pending UFAs. And, while they did add Carter, the Kings still need more help offensively - which Gaustad does not address.

Odds are that the Sabres will announce a contract extension - not a trade - of Gaustad tomorrow afternoon IMO.

NO! Bud is going to be a 20 goal scoring 2nd line winger in the NHL.

It's a grass is greener on the other side type situation. Gaustad doesn't help the Kings, but Kings fans think he does.

Brad May tweeted that the Sabres are looking to get a 1st round pick in exchange for Gaustad, who is seeking a 5-6 year contract worth $3M.

I don't think he is worth a 1st nor do I think he should get a 5-6 year contract at $3M. Maybe a shorter term, say three years, four max.

EDIT: Just beaten to the punch. With that asking price, I expect Gaustad to finish the season in Buffalo, unless Regier lowers his demands.

I have no doubt that Regier could be asking for a 1st rounder - but there's no way he hands a 30-year old Gaustad a 5-6 year extension. If that's his demand, the Sabres will deal him for whatever they can get IMO.

I'm anticipating them extending him for 3 years at $8.5M at the most.

Oh, but he does! It all comes down to SIZE. Losing Handzus & Simmonds made our bottom 6 wimpy & little. We need somebody LARGE and Gaustad fits the bill.

Would you guys like Brad Richardson? He's smallish & left his heart in 2009.
