Edge, or anyone else who has seen alot of Korpikoski...how about a comparison to Niklas Sundstrom?
Think he's probably more offensive than that, maybe not quite as defensive minded either. Bigger frame. Grittier.
Hope he scores more than Dvorak does. Devo has 6 goals this year.
Thinking more along the lines of Dvorak when he's firing on all cylinders (Florida and his first several years here. Solid 20 some odd goals possibly. Nothing crazy but fairly consistent year in and year out.
Granted he's not a natual goal scorer, but is his offense good enough for the top two lines? I'm not sure yet...
Not really sure yet either. I think the potential is there, but we won't really have a clearer picture till he plays in NA. What I will say is that right now his stat line is not reflective of his talents, effort or potential. It's simply the role he plays and where he happens to play it.
I think Korps is a little bit of a safer pick in some ways. He might be a 20-25 goal second line player. But I think his odds are at least good of being a solid third line player if nothing else. It's hard to say really.
I think that was in reply to my last post, I was a little unclear. I wrote that he moves like someone who is 5´11, not skates. He isn't bent over like B. Grahame. He have the strength in his abdominals to build up good speed while turning. He is just a good skater. He is comfortable changing from forward to gooing backwards at high speed so that he can take a pass at any time. Though even in Darthmouth he was heavy compared to someone 5'11. The first game of the year in the AHL this year he was extremely heavy and did not skate as well as he did in the ECAC. I think that was a conditioning issue though and IMO won't hurt his future.
As for me, I still think Hugh's progression will come less from anything physical but rather how his mental game advances (or doesn't).
