My bold prediction, or maybe my dream...Semin, Schultz and 1st round pick for Ryan Suter.

Pretty horrible actually.

We have 8 D on the roster and are struggling to score. So we trade away our best offensive player over the last two months and a 1st round pick for a UFA that is essentially a position of relative strength on our team.

If you really want Suter then wait til the offseason to sign him. We need a center 1st and then a vet gritty dman. We need more offensive depth not less.

Also that 1st hurts. We need to replenish the farm.

Would really love Suter but Semin has been so solid it would hurt the offense terribly

Few things more jarring than seeing Hugh Laurie in an ad for men's skin cream (on the sportsnet stream).

I'd like to get Dustin Brown. And something for Knuble and Hamrlik in separate deals. Some random D man or something. Having Green back makes me feel much better about the blue line, but he still needs a rock of a partner to make me feel better about going forward.

Hmm, I believe Paul Stastny salary is 6.6

Return Colorado's two picks from the Varly trade and add Wideman (Quincey replacement)

For Suter, I'd risk it if there's some indication that he'd be interested in extending.

I agree that we need more offensive depth, and need to replenish the farm. But I don't agree that Suter plays a position of relative strength. The only player I feel comfortable with at LD is Alzner. 1LD is a black hole on this roster, and Suter's a top-10 defenseman in the league.

As per @DarrenDreger, NYI are now taking offers on P.A. Parenteau. But not goalie Evgeny Nabokov.

He's gonna test the free agent market anyhow. Heck if we really want then we can trade a 3rd round pick for exclusive negotiating rights in the offseason.

We need more offensive depth not less. We need a 2C desperately.

This will fill one hole (in your book) and leave another open so not only would we need a 2C but a top 6 scoring forward. We'd be short a 1st round draft pick that we could use to acquire either.

This makes no sense to me personally.

And what makes anyone think Nash will take on salary (and Schultz contract) and even be willing to move Suter who they are probably trying to resign?

And dare I say it...Schultz looks like he's getting it. Been very good last few games and has earned Hunter's trust.

I am such an amateur GM, I totally neglected to consider moving Nick to LTIR so had us selling hard early to gain cap room. Unless we have someone better coming in at RW or need a seat, I would rather keep Knuble than move him for a paltry 3rd.

I'd prefer a human to a draft pick for Hammer.

Knuble is also money though. His 2 mil may be spent better elsewhere if it comes to that.

You can always use the draft pick to get a human from another team.

Apparently the asking price for P.A. Parenteau is a 1st round draft pick.

Agreed, especially if he is out of favor and will be a healthy scratch should we make the playoffs. But injuries will hit in any respectable run...

Geek shows $7,693,775 salary room to take on.

If they accepted that offer, I would be a happy man. I read somewhere on here that COL is looking for help now, not picks/prospects. I guess Wideman is help now, but they probably bulk at the UFA status.

Stansy or Dustin Browne could be good pickups.

I still want to trade the UFAs to get the picks/propects we will need to trade for a long term center

dale aint playing knuble. trade him and were up to almost $9m in annual cap room.

if he isnt going to play, move him. if schultz is playing and hamrlik not, trade him for the cap space.

unprorated with backstrom allows 6.7m, hamrlik 3.5m and knuble 2m. thats a lot space to bring in a real player. of course a real player is going to cost

Highly doubt that either Stastny or Brown are traded today.

Brown would be awesome but doesn't address a need, would cost a ton, and like you say I doubt they move him.

Stastny...man...I don't like his game for the salary he brings. Just me tho as he does (outside of this year and perhaps last) put up good points. $6.6 is awful steep for a player trending down like he has. Just not a fan so probably biased here.

While that would be my ideal trade acquisition, I think the prior trade for Hal Gill suggests Nashville is going to go for it this year and just deal with the ramifications of losing Suter in the offseason. Quite possibly do a draft day rights trade to get something back for him.

I'd be fine if Semin, Wideman, Knoobs and Hamrlik getting moved because I honestly don't see the team making a deep run in the playoffs.

However if the larger assets Wideman/Semin are kept that's fine.

Plekanec would be a nice fit since the chasm at 2C is glaring but the NTC may pose a problem. I also think adding a Brown or Nash wouldn't hurt as they seem to be guys more akin to Hunter's style but I doubt either will be coming to DC.
