Parenteau is really not this good. Kostitsyn is a better player by quite a large margin.

Parenteau won't get equal or greater value than AK on the open market because teams know which one is a better player. No one is beating down the Isle's door to trade for him. That should be telling.

Im not saying he is an elite asset. But he is worth a late 1st or a NHL ready prospect.
You will see come July 1. Some team will offer him 4.5 to 5 million per season

Leino had 53 points in 81 games. Parenteau has 58 in 62 so far. Buffalo was very dumb to give him that contract.

Exactly. Its just Isles fans trying to pump his tires like there is actually NHL GMs reading there opinions on here.

It should be telling because until today Snow wasn't taking offers.

I mean come on! Parenteau is 17th in the league for points, 5th for assists and Kostitsyn has one point in his last 12 games.

Isles lowballing Parenteau in contract talks and asking too much from trades to other teams.

No GM is giving him that

He is a 2 year NHL player, who brings nothing.

Shocking....thankfully the GMs actually watch the players and not just look at the stat column.

But as we have all seen, this isn't the open market, this is the deadline. A time when if you want the asset you pay the premium for it.

What he gets on 7/1 is of no consequence to anyone except GMG right now. What he fetches in a deal now that he's available (which hasn't existed until today) is set by the trades that have already taken place. If lesser players this season are fetching high 2nd's, someone in the top 5 in scoring categories is bound to fetch more than that. Simple logic.

Ok dude. Whatever. We'll agree to disagree & see what he gets on July 1 from some team.

He already surpassed AK's total career points this year & is on his way to 70+ points

My god, you'd think every goal he got bounced off of him and in and every assist was the second assist and he had no impact on the goal.

People lie, numbers don't.

I doubt posters like Badgerfan have watched that much Islanders hockey, but Parenteau is playing great hockey this year. His numbers are absolutely amazing considering how terrible of a player he was last year.

WTF? absolutely not from ottawa.

i dont understand why the Isle's arent 100% on board with re-signing him? they suddenly have so much talent they dont need 70pt plus guys?
If he's that good there is no chance they trade him, and if they are up for trading him IMO they know he's not as good as his numbers and next contract will warrant.

Semantics. When that player wouldn't even make a third line in the vast majority of playoff teams, he won't be sought after and especially won't be overpaid for.

What teams are knee deep in point per game players and powerplay performers?

See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Can't have it both ways. Either the guy's not good enough to be a money player or he's awesome enough to flip for a first and change. He cannot be both at the same time.

I think it's less of a personal vendetta and more the underlying thought by uneducated hockey fans that anyone not named Tavares in an Islander sweater is worth nothing.

Please. He wouldn't sniff the TOI on a contender that he does on the Isles.

He's still way better than you're giving him credit for being. It's like you're just arguing for the sake of arguing now. If you watch the dude play, he's feisty and has gotten much better in his own end. For a large chunk of time he was on the 2nd line. But whatever, we'll see what happens.
