Grabovski Not In Play

Burke just said on TSN that there has been some progress on the Grabovski contract front and he is not in play today. Burke is confident a deal will be done in the days going forward.

Has nothing to do with agreeing on a contract. It comes down to the fact that they need this guy to stand a chance to get into the playoffs.

This interview is classic.

"Rick Nash is under contract and with another team and I am not allowed to talk about him... From my understanding he has given a list of teams.... and um, we're not allowed to talk about him"

It's like he said we can't talk about him, then started to talk about him, and someone in the PR department came racing across the room to tell him "WTF are you doing?!"

I was talking about his whining that the price was ridiculously high for other team's goalies.

If Toronto don't sign a goaltender then it'll be because they're focused on resigning Grabovski. Can't see them giving him up when he's been doing well lately. His speed is amazing.

Burke is very much used to having his way and that's not happening lately. You know he's pulling his hair out over the very little power he seemingly has to improve his team. If the Leafs miss the playoffs this year, Burke and the Leafs just need to rebuild from within. You're not going to be able to get all your core pieces through trades and FA signings.

Want to sharpen up your communication skills. It's not just goalies, but players in general. And do you think that Burke would just go after Cory Schneider? How self-centred are you about your own team?

Burke said something along the lines of: "I've spent a lot of time building this group together, I'm not going to blow it up for a short-term fix"

"I still have trust in our Goaltenders, James Reimer is a young goalie and we won't give up on him"
-Brian Burke

"Won't trade Grabovski, because the Leafs are still looking to make the play-offs"
-Brian Burke

I'm starting to think Burke doesn't know what the **** he wants. This team needs a shake-up or else we're going to miss the playoffs, but yet he won't go out and make a trade of some sorts. Then he doesn't take in the fact that if Grabovski contract demands are way to high then he should sell high on him and focus more on the future, instead of letting Grabo walk for nothing on July 1st.

Ya, Toronto is not trading Schenn for a backup...no matter how much you guys keep on mentioning it.

Good try though

Did anyone seriously think he was going to trade Grabovski and wave the white flag on the season?

Exactly. When was the last time a GM dealt their best center when they're just a few points out of a playoff spot?

What I find laughable is that Brian Burke thinks that his team is built to win. 11 wins in the last 27 games.....mmmm......yeah.

We don't have any goaltending. One is struggling with a concussion and the other sucks. The Leafs are much better team then they get credit for. If we even had average goaltending we'd be a playoff team no question.

You dont have any defense either. Dont blame everything on the goaltending like Wilson does.

I don't believe a word Burke says. If he gets a nice offer for him, he'll trade him.

lol strong reach.

he was asked if he had interest and was still in play.... he mentioned a list that is known info now... but good attempt at trying to twist it.

We do have defense, we just don't play a good defensive system at all.. blame Wilson.

You don't watch much, huh?

Every defense makes mistakes, but when the goalie can't make routine saves, they're magnified.

The Leafs have been in every game that they've gotten competent goaltending in. Letting in pee wee goals in the opening 90 seconds is enough to deflate any team.

Wrong. Night in night out our goalies let in awful goals that are not a result of poor defense.
