You're really missing the point here - as a player Jokinen is better than he's being advertised in this thread as. Even if his skills are not needed in Vancouver for your listed reasons, that wasn't the point on my original post. I wish you could see this, but it's apparent you can't.
why argue? lets not turn this into 1 of those threads. if you want to debate say why he has value and what his value to the Canucks could be.

For example bring up his 2 way game, the fact that for a "shoot first" player he his assists outnumber his goals 2:1 over the past 3 seasons and the he may not be "gritty" he brings good size and doesn't shy away from physical play and is not afraid to mix it up.

I would also suggest taking anything Mellanby said with a grain of salt, as the last time he was in a dressing room with Jokinen was midway through the 2000-2001 season.

I appreciate what you're saying, but look, I know how to debate and post here. I've been on this board since 2002, and I've probably forgotten my involvement in more epic debates on this board since that time than you've ever been in. And I don't mean than in any disrespectful tone.

Plus, we're not arguing anymore.

Jokinen could be a valuable chip in trying to acquire a player like Ott.

Lolli Jokinen.

Can't believe Nonis was going to trade both Sedins for him.

Awww come on my LOLWUT? Pear gets taken down but a discussion of join dates rolls on.

Pshhh *kicks sand* you guys are no fun.

I would eat my own hat if we got the Joker. Although - meme potential would be through the roof for this team. Imagine the giggle fits he'd give AV?

What's the big deal here? Canuck fans say they don't want him because he doesn't fit in their team. Okay, understandable. Move on?

No I wouldn't have.
If you are a buyer, the trade deadline is a ridiculous time of year to acquire a player 90% of the time. Maybe for some minor tweaking/ depth players that you are acquiring for little in return (Higgins and Lappy were solid additions that we didn't have to overpay for).

I learned my lesson when we picked up Eric Weinrich and Keith Carney. I now much prefer to be bored through the trade deadline day rather than hear we made a significant acquisition.

Nucks just traded for Pahlsson. Maybe get Gaustad and Jokinen too and roll 4 lines of centers!

Yeah, I get that they want to limit the duplicate threads, but can we get a mod to at least create threads based on trade center or something?

And when they signed J-Bo I was surprised as well. I thought they needed a first line forward a lot more than they needed a d-man.
Now, i think you're one of the only Oiler fans on this board with common sense, so don't take this as an attack, but you really can't judge what Calgary is now based on moves by an ex-GM. You can come back and re-evaluate in a couple years when Feaster's been there for a while.
