Do you think it's right for a goalie to say about another goalie that the defensive system his team plays benefits him?
I could only imagine the reaction from the Devils board if Lundqvist said something like this.
Why are you guys so focused on that statement? Is your defense not a huge part of how your team plays? Isn't blocking shots a big part of Dan Girardi's game? I guess I'm missing something.

I could care less about the statement. I am well aware of how the Rangers block shots and how forwards collapse towards the net keeping shots to the outside. I've just never heard a goalie say something like this about another goalie. It's just not something you say as a professional player towards one of your peers.
It's not the first time Brodeur's done it, so I am not surprised.

Oh hes a great goalie....because the team in front of him is playing really well. wtf? is there some truth to it? sure. the rangers do play a very good defensive system. but why even say that?

What if Henrik said this about the devils:
"They are a great team, as long as they can keep the shootout in the playoffs"
That would be a big time ******* thing to say. difference is? Henrik wouldnt say something like that.
I see nothing wrong with what Marty said. Lundqvist has benefited from 2 things this year.
#1. Raising his OWN game, I used to say all the time before this year that when Henke was on, he was unbeateable, but when he was off, he was BRUTAL. Him playing better has made him the best goalie in the game, but you don't think he doesn't feel more relaxed and less frazzled out there knowing that the Defense isn't hanging him out to dry anymore?
#2 The D has played incredible. Girardi, McDonagh, Sauer before he got hurt, Eminger. Callahan blocks a ton of shots, Duby is good defensively. I'm sorry..you have a good defense in front of you, it's going to HELP you. The Rangers block a TON of shots. Henke probably doesn't even see HALF the shots per game that he should.
There is nothing wrong with what Marty said, he said Henke had come into his own and that he had more structure in front of him, and that he was more structured. He said he should win the Vezina..WHAT'S THE PROBLEM??? At least he gives him credit, most Devils fans out there (my wife NOT included - that's her posting above) dismiss him as only being as good as he is because of his pads.
Give it a rest people. Plenty of other things to hate the Devils about. This is not one of them.
Well, first I'm not going to stoop to a level and call Lundqvist names because I like him as a goalie and think he's good.
Second, Lundqvist did make a comment after the last game about Marty trying to sell a call when we won 1-0. But really, who cares? To be honest with you, I could care less what players say about other players. Just go out and play the game and leave it out there.
He still offered up some praise for the guy and all you guys are doing is focusing on the negative.
If I cried wolf for every comment people made about my goalie, no one would listen anymore.
But this isn't a fan making comment about Hank, because I don't care what some idiots have to say about him. This is another NHL goalie saying it. And like Inferno said, what if Lundqvist comes out and says this:
