Must be a set up move as Kassian isn't a roster player.

Cody Hodgson and Alexander Sulzer to Buffalo....

for Zack Kassian and Marc-Andre Gragnani. That's a ballsy move to make, especially with Hodgson finally turning the corner and rounding into a really good player.

Coming in peace. This should end up being an awesome trade. Hodgson's been good, but Kassian will be a force. Him and Kesler should be able to go up against any line in the league

Pretty ****iing stupid move. Where is the canucks depth down the middle now? Sedin, Kesler, Pahlsson, Malhotra. Pretty ****ing stupid.

I'm not even mad anymore. I'm just really, really sad. I know you have to give to get.. but surely we could have gotten something more for Hodgson?

I'm not soured on Kassian, maybe he is our Lucic or Bertuzzi. Just burns to lose our Linden for it. Having Lapierre or Pahlsson in the 3C pretty much destroys our bottom 6 scoring depth.

And we still don't have a half decent defenseman on the bottom pairing. Grags is pretty crap.

Leafs fan here.
I love the trade for the Nucks.
Kassian should be a beast on your roster and I really think you stold Gragnani while his value was super low. Gragnani was a force last year against Philly in the playoffs and has a really nice skillset. Leads the Sabres in +/- with a +10 and should play better in your system then Buffalo. I know its difficult to take because you traded away a good young player whos contributing to your team currently but I think when you look back in a few years you'll love the trade.

I don't post often but this trade warrants it.

I think this is a horrible deal for Vancouver, especially long term. We just gave up a blue chip with 16 goals in his rookie season on the 3rd line for a prospect. There is no reason to add bells or whistles to Kassian because that is what he is, a prospect. Tonnes of upside yes, but still a prospect. If you need to move Cody because he wont be a top 2 centre here you trade him for something that makes a little more sense and something where you don't obviously get fleeced.

After all that time keeping him in the minors, promising him playing time when he is ready and now this.....after the loyalty shown to the Canucks we trade him off the best team in the league right before the playoffs when he clearly would be a big help.

I fell that this trade is a reaction to media saying we aren't big enough or that Lucic and Marchand pushed us around. MG screwed up big time here and I don't think there is a safe way to clean this mess up.

Canucks wanted to upgrade size and toughness. Hence interest in Ott. They got Kassian instead. Nice day for Vancouver

im sorry canucks fans, but cody hodson wasnt that good. canucks didnt need any extra offence anyways. we need toughness and kassian fits the bill. if gillis had the mentally of most people on internet boards, we would never get a chance to win a cup.

sabres fan coming in peace...just wondering how good you guys think hodgson can be/what type of player is he? like could he be a solid 2nd line 2 way guy, potential 1st line center, etc. also kassian's a good player to have IF his mental game/maturity doesn't become a major issue. he's got good hands, a nice shot, and is an absolute beast in corners/along the boards. if your coaching staff could get him to use his body more and get him to be more physical, he could get one of the sedin twins a lot of open ice next year if he got into your 2nd line. but don't get at all excited about gragnani. he flat out sucks. not physical at all, poor defensively, is a turnover machine. unless your d gets decimated by injuries, keep him out of your lineup. anyway, hope this trade works out for both teams in the future

Kassian's not ready, but he should be real good on the Canucks when he is.

No comment on Grags. Just know that there's not a single person from Buffalo who will be sad to see him go.

I'd put Kassian on Kesler's wing. He's an absolute tank that can score

Everyone calm down. I think we'll be loving Kassian as soon as we see how he plays.
