Ben Bishop To Binghamton

Surprisingly, our new stud goalie Ben Bishop is going to start out in the AHL as he's been assigned to Bingo, as per SensChirp, Travis Yost and Ian Mendes has confirmed as well.

Not sure what's going to happen with Auld, but looks like we're sticking with Lehner for now. Bishop will only be a call away so I'm sure the team will keep a very close eye on him.

Hopefully he continues the run he was on in Peoria and he can make a statement right away.

Good luck to Ben!

This will go a long way in helping lehner's confidence/committment and shouldn't affect bishop at all. Bishop should help in bingo. I like this decision

Yup, very good move. No sense in throwing Bishop in there against Boston with next to no practice time and no chance to meet the guys and get familiar with things. Rather not see the kid get overwhelmed. Let him gain some confidence in Bingo and pick up where he left off in Peoria. Only got two games this week anyway so it's perfect timing to have get accustomed.

I think we definitely see Bishop back up in a week or so.

You would say that. Very exciting time for you too. Enjoy him while he's down there and hopefully he gets the call back up in no time because he's deserving of it and everyone in Ottawa cannot wait to see this beast in net.

Bingo plays St. John's tomorrow night at home, so we will get a good look at how he will fit in.

I thought this at first as well, than realized there is no point whatsoever in having him back up when he can be playing in Bingo. Wouldn't want him to get rusty. New organization so it makes sense to get him familiar with the team first, than when he is called up he can get some practices in, go over video, meet with coaches.

Lehner can hold things down for now, than things can be re-assessed in a week or so.

Good stuff! Probably the most excited I'll be for a Bingo game aside from last year's playoff run. Should be good.

Auld should stay until Andy is back. Since Lehner's holding the fort for now and Bishop has the 2-way, he starts in Bingo.

You will need to cut up & extend a few of the door frames for this guy to fit in, he's huge.

Bishop will be fine to go to Bingo since he already has a one way contract for next season in Ottawa. Auld will be the backup for the remainder of the season behind Anderson & Lehner until Anderson heals. Lehner gets some much needed experience at the NHL level which hopefully is a kick in the pants so that he knows he has to work harder in the AHL if he wants to play in Ottawa. Works out for everyone.

No, we see Bishop recalled at some point soon. We're not sticking with Auld. It's the Lehner show right now and if we need to turn to a back up for any reason Bishop will be called up once he's had the chance to get a feel for things down in Bingo.

I'd imagine Bishop stays down for now to provide stability, and then a switch is made when there's a nice gap in the schedule. Let Lehner keep playing while on a roll.

I'm fine with this, Bingo needs a goalie. It would be greedy for Ottawa to keep BOTH Bishop and Lehner up in the NHL, lose Auld for nothing, and leave Bingo in the lurch.

Once Andy is back, everything will get sorted out. No worries.

Its not greedy for Ottawa to have both Lehner/Bishop up with the big team.

Bishop has to learn how to play behind a very porous defense in Bingo then when he comes up to Ottawa it won't be a total shock when it happens again.

Why have Lehner or Bishop sit as the back-up when both can be playing? It's kind off dumb to have 3 goalies with the big club, and leave the Farm team with scraps; that would really help our prospects develop.
