That was an excellent offer. Howson is an idiot. Can't say Sather didn't try.

Honestly, I could have lived with Slat's offer. The CBJ offer was disgusting and an insult.

And capaspace. For a team that is rebuilding. Again.

Between that trade and the draft, you have a hell of a good start at building a core.

I don't know if I'm more stunned at Howson's demand or that he turned down our last offer.

Yeah, go **** yourself, Howson. I am MORE than completely okay with how this went down.
our offer might have been fair, but Howsons demands are just astonishing. What is that guy smoking? Nash has a ridiculous contract and does not want to play there, he will never get a team to pay up with a package like that.

Exactly. For now, Howson looks worse than Waddell did, and that's pretty tough to do.

Maybe he shouldn't have signed a long term, big cap hit, NTC contract with a bad team.

Highly doubtful Brooks would "spew" something of that magnitude without being influenced by the Rangers. He IS their media influence.

You can't have it both ways. If Howson's an idiot for not taking such a big offer than Sather's just a dumb for offering such a lopsided deal.

Not that simple. Perhaps when he signed he was ready to stay, be part of the solution go through two or three rebuilds (rebuilds of what I have no idea) and be a good solider.

Then your GM comes to and a basically says the team would be better off by trading you for a high package. Nobody likes being unwanted.

Entirely fair offer by Sather, with all of our top non-NHL assets not names Chris Kreider.

Still, Dubi+Hagelin+Kreider+MDZ+First is a long cry from

Dubi+Miller+Thomas+Erixon+1st

All part of the master plan of getting Nash for Boyle, THomas and a 2nd this summer. Worked with Avery!

If Howson demanded the above trade, I'd probably attempt to strangle him through the phone.

Howson has nooooobody but to blame but himself for the fiasco in Columbus He walked in in 2007 with an elite player to build around, a high draft pick and cap room.

Now, he's trying to deflect attention away from his mistakes. Not that easy, is it, Scott??? His franchise player is now itching to get out of Dodge.

He obviously convinced ownership he can get a better deal at the Draft.

Doubtful, even if the Rangers or San Jose get swept in the 1st round without ever scoring a goal.

Honestly, it'd be too strange for Nash to play the rest of the season with CBJ now. Everyone knows that he requested a trade and the tension would be huge.

My bet is he sits the rest of the season out. Now that his lovely GM threw him under the bus and all.

Agree. Keep your best young players. Your top prospect. Trade from a position of depth and hope the pick is a very late 1st and only give up one roster player who is currently not even a top six forward.

How so?

Rangers are an elite team with a deep prospect pool, cap space and young players locked up.

Sather wins either way.

Haha. I just jokingly said as much to my brother. Nash will be eventually be moved for a roster player, a pick, and one prospect. To where? Don't know. That is my guess though.

How the **** did he say no to that offer? Providing it actually existed of course..

Down Goes Brown ‏ @DownGoesBrown

After trading Jeff Carter, it’s nice to see Scott Howson move quickly to address the “superstar who really hates it here” void.

To be honest I would only call Sather's offer slightly too much. Should have only offered one of either Erixon or Miller. That was as fair as it was going to get. Howson wanted to fleece big time and have everyone worship him more than he wanted an actual trade to go down. Now he just looks dumb.
