I think we are right in thinking this since no one between the two can fart without the other one hearing it or knowing what it smells like.

I had no problem with Gauthier before the deadline but it's pretty clear that Gauthier blew it up !
We are in a clear selling position et we only sold Gill and Kostitsyn ...

We clearly are the losers of this year trade deadline !

Let's get real now what are we gonna do differently when this season is over ??
nothing, the free agency pool is very poor and the trade avenue will cost us way too much. It's sad but we will be IMO stuck with a crappy team like that for another year of 2 !

I don't care if we only get a 7th round pick for Darche and Campoli. You trade them anyway since there is no way we are making the playoff !!!

Moen is still not re-signed you trade him and get something decent and there is still some pretty good chance they he would still hit free agency and we could re-sign him.

The only positive is that we didn't trade good uprising player like Subban, Pacioretty and Eller.

I want somebody that has a longterm vision and not an objective to make the playoff at whatever cost year after year while giving up solid piece of our prospects/picks.

Well, he's just mediocre. Has he made a good move? Yeah, probably trading Gill. His moves always have a reactionary whiff to them- firing at odd times, trading after comments, etc. But ok, who cares if he hurts players' feelings?

His "vision" for the team is unclear. You can infer from getting Cole, Bourque, etc. that he has decided that a bigger and hopefully tougher team is a good thing. But then at centre they have the usual size and scoring issues. And on the back-end...well he gambled on Markov and was wrong. He gambled on Kaberle as a pseudo-replacement and was wrong..

Also he has been unwilling or unable to get rid of Gomez. Maybe boss doesn't want to dump him in the minors or buy-out, or maybe Gauthier still believes in him. But until he resolves that issue and the issue of a top defender, he's not worthy of praise in my book.

It's a sad state of affairs when Nokeleinen, Campoli, Gomez, Kaberle - all players the Habs desperately wanted to get rid of - were not even worth a 7th round pick (as playoff insurance at the very least) at the trade deadline. This, in a year of many buyers and few sellers.

Terrible players, terrible management for bringing them to Montreal and terrible management for not being able to dump them somewhere.

As has been said before, Gauthier was Gainey's most trusted advisor, and given formal responsibility to scout the players Gainey mistakenly obtained. Turning this on it's head, why do you find the line so clearly drawn as to free Gauthier of culpability.

Questions for the press conference:

Was PG given free reign to take any decision he wanted? Did he need ownership's approval for his moves?

Was there no market for Campoli? for Kaberle? for Gomez?

When will Moen be resigned?

PG collects a paycheque. He has to go up there and look like an ass while BG and Geoff hide behind the curtain. PG will say a few predicted words and disappear at the end of the season. Right now PG is writing out his speech.

who did the scouting for Ribs trade?

What about Sergei K for zip?

Ak46 gone for a 2nd...which going back 99 till today, only second rounder to impact Montreal is Subban...
rest have been busts in Montreal..
anyways, Gainey Gauthier side by side since 2003,whatever moves were made we're discussed between both.

under both , they GAVE AWAY the farm ..

Gabovski
AK46
Sk74
Latendreesse
Halak
Ribs
Ryan McDounagh

there is a reason this team will SUFFER for next 5 years.

Why ? Because AK produced nothing these last dozen games. That is what he was worth. Of course its because RC decided to not play him on a scoring line and it was brilliant not to play him with Eller since they looked like they were clicking.

The team need a new identity and trading players like Desharnais,Plekanec,Diaz,Weber might be some option even tough we might not get full value.

Right now we have a soft defense, small offensive players, and no grit in the system other than Tinordi.

You forgot (2008 1st round pick, 2x 2009 2nd round pick, 2010 2nd round, 2011 2nd round)

I could also add the non sales of pending free agency that we eventually lost via free agency without any compensation! (Souray,Ryder,Tanguay, Koivu, Kovalev)

The only real question that he needs to answer is why we still keep and live or die with our defensive minded system that is around since 1995. Why bother to form a team based on skill and finesse (his words) when they have to play defense first which never got us a regular 60 pts+ since a decade.
Markov and Plekanec...

Go look up the meaning of that word, seems like the "brain trust" around here can't figure it out. Gainey could make any move he wanted with or without Gauthiers advice. So go ahead and find me something saying he reccommended getting Gionta, Gomez and Cammalleri, until then it is no better than eklund level speculation. Me I use my mind, I see the moves Gauthier has made going in a very different direction with good return on trades and with a clear goal, two things brain dead gainey never had.

But like I have said before, I enjoy watching the masses here rant and rave because you people we all crazy happy when gainey was blowing assets at every turn and the gomez trade was defended to the death for years afterwards.

"IN BOB WE TRUST" That is what I hear everytime I read a "fire Gauthier!!!" post here, what a joke.

Not for anything, but the moves that built this core is also Gainey. You know, Price, Subban, pacioretty, Desharnais, White, Weber, Emelin, moen, gorges...all gainey who acquired their rights via draft, trade or signing.
