Canucks send F Byron Bitz to AHL

We were over our contract limit, Bitz didn't need to go through waivers, so off he goes.

Too late to waive anyone to the AHL. Bitz and Kassian were the only forwards who weren't waiver eligible so one of them was likely going down.

Bitz can still be recalled without waivers because of his contract.

u can still waive players, its just if a team claims that player he is ineligible for the playoffs that season so it becomes pointless in claiming someone unless ur out of the playoffs and need a body to fill in or are looking at re-signing the player or his contract goes past that season

Whether a player is in the minors or in the nhl has nothing to do with whether the contract counts against the contract limit.

You can't assign players to the AHL after the trade deadline. The only exception to that rule is players who were called up from the AHL after the trade deadline.

I think you meant roster limit not contract limit. We didn't add any contracts but we did add 3 roster player (and lost 2). Didn't know there was a waiver exemption for being over 23 players due to trade. Anyone have a ink for more information on that?

Want to see Kassian with the Sedins... he's great on the boards.

Rather see Kassian and Kesler.
That line with Booth would rip teams a new one.
