Must have just knocked the wind out of him.

Flukey goal by Backes, but I'll take it against Kipper.

Did anyone else catch the part about Armstrong being excited about the depth in the AHL?

Either he's legit excited, or he realizes that since the franchise is so hamstrung for money, he really can't make a "move" that some fans would like so he has no choice but to be excited about the depth.

Damn right I'll take that goal. Basically identical to the goal the Predators got to open the scoring against the Kings tonight!

Thankfully that puck wasn't 7 or 8 inches higher on Perron.

That was a *really* risky play by Cola. I bet Capt. Kangaroo isn't too happy about that.

I don't want to leap to the conclusion that this is Hitchcock's master plan for the team, when the reasoning could be as simple as he's looking for a way to mask the lack of forward depth/mask the current struggles of the defense/cut back a bit on the energy expenditure of the team in general to conserve energy/perhaps they're trying to exploit something they see in Calgary's play/etc.

It's pretty obvious, though, that the Blues' trap is not honed to a razor's edge. Hopefully this is just a temporary thing, since I think it plays decidedly away from the Blues' strengths as a team.

We have to stop these cross ice through 3 or 4 people passes. Oshie just wasted that possession, and it's the second or third time that has happened this game.

The AHL depth comments were to put a positive spin on things, although I think his comments about Schwartz being very close to NHL ready were genuine.

I suspect it is because of the road trip, players being fatigued, and players being banged up.

I was surprised by his comments on Schwartz. Makes you think he really might be here later this year.

Good end to the period. Two flukey goals, but I'll definitely take them.

Did anyone catch the part of MacInnis' speech where he said that he hopes his play inspires the next player to wear his jersey? I doubt he meant it that way, but it was obvious that everyone was intensely aware that the only reason that would be possible was because it wasn't retired by the Flames. It's the only part of the speech the Calgary fans didn't cheer.
