And by then we may be even further down the list for making the post season.
Likely so...but thus is the plight of a Kings fan. I completely agree that the need for a defenseman is an immediate one. It's not like another D-man is the last piece to our team's contender puzzle, there's a gaping wound on blueline that's bleeding points fast. It needs to be covered as soon as possible.
However, as you say, management is reactive. And, as fans, we just have to hope that this team can put in some kind of decent effort and remain in the playoff picture until the break.
Wait..a minute...no one would be excited about that...what do you know about Witt that we don't...broken leg? huh,...spill it...
Nothing is wrong with Witt...I just know he's wants out of DC (along with being a UFA after the season) so the Caps have to get whatever they can for him. Ive been expecting no more than a 3rd or best case 2nd round pick so getting a player like Grebeshkov would work fine for me. The Caps ideal trade partner would give them a rough and tumble type D man back...but not a lot of teams will give those type players up...especially the younger ones.
Halpern is in the same boat in terms of impending UFA status. I doubt the Caps trade him...but I wouldnt think twice about it since we have Sutherby and Laich playing well enough to move Halpern. Clarke seems to be the kinda player the Caps would like to have for the 4th line and Dempsey could play some minutes on D with Witt being gone.
