Gotta love it.
It was an awesome crowd. Amarante got the crowd going before the game even started. Didn't see many Devils fans at all. Love seeing a win live!

Plenty of lulz in the Devils thread
-lost because of the ice and refs
-should have gone to te shootout
-best one: devils outplayed the rangers

that was so damn boring. 95% of the game was played in the neutral zone. dump, change, play for 30 seconds in the neutral zone, dump, change, play for 30 seconds in the neutral zone.

it was 2 teams unwilling to make any mistakes. BOOORRRRIIINGNNNGG

dont get me wrong, ill take a boring win over an exciting loss any day of the week...but it doesnt change the fact that, imho, this was a snoozefest. Even Henrik Lundqvist pretty much called it a boring game during his post game comments.

Couldn't stay up for the game, so got up early instead. That was one excellent defensive game. Great win.

Two game streak. Let's keep it going!

Yeah, it was a pretty dumb thing for Dubinsky to say, because Clarkson has fought probably >50% the heavyweights in the NHL. He was probably just annoyed at Clarkson because he took a few punches in the kisser.

Also, Henrique…. it literally looked 100x harder to shoot that puck out of play from the crease then it would've to score.

They have a rush going, and Clarkson goes 10 freaking feet offsides?!?!

Kovalchuk holding the puck so long in the neutral zone the wingers have to hit the brakes and start from 0 when the puck crosses.

Hank's right, it almost seemed like they were trying not to score.
Everything you said in the above is true, the Devils couldnt finish and overpassed WAY too much. But that comment by Lundqvist was LOL-worthy. The Rangers trapped from the drop of the puck to the final buzzer, and generated no offense. Even on the powerplays it appeared they were more worried about the Devils scoring a shorty. That's why it made his comment so ironic. Plus, the Rangers blocked a TON of shots tonight that never made it to Lundqvist.

You really dont think that's true? The Devils absolutely dominated the puck possession battle from 0:00 through 60:00. Probably 2/3 of the game was played on the Rangers 1/2 of the ice. The Devils overpassed like it was a soccer game, and when they did shoot, the Rangers defense either blocked shots, or did a great job keeping the Devils to the outside, but they logged a ton of time in the Rangers zone nonetheless. That's how you get a game where a total of ONE puck makes it past a total of two NHL goalies.

You didn't dominate us because our defense had you in check all game. Kovalchuk had one legitimate opportunity. Parise did, too. That's hardly domination, especially when we're a team BUILT on goaltending and defense. Besides, at the very least it's 50-50 because we dominated offensively in the 1st period.

I think your offense got outplayed by our defense and goalie.

The defense was great, but I must have missed something that the goalie did?

Yep. The few legitimate chances you had, Hank squashed. The one legitimate chance we had, Marty let in.

You didn't outplay us if you lost due to our defense and goaltending, since that's the game we play.

This whole "we outplayed them" has become the NJD fans regular go-to statement after every game and I really don't understand why.

NHL numbers, not MSG numbers:

Hits:
NYR - 37
NJD - 24

Blocked Shots:
NYR - 18
NJD - 2

SOG:
NYR - 15
NJD - 13

Takeaways:
NYR - 8
NJD - 4

Score:
NYR - 1
NJD - 0

in what world is this outplaying someone? They were out-hustled, out-worked, out-hit, and our goalie made the big save where Marty failed to. And your passing was abysmal.

Can it be so far from the truth? I mean,15 shots on goal! That would have been fine if it was one period.
Must have been a boring game with only 28 SOG from both teams,no?

That said,I worked night shift, and could not see the game. So take it as a question, not a statement.

Anyway, great 2 points.

Congrats to Hank on win #30.

9 point division lead, 1 game in hand. 9 point lead over Boston who have 1 game in hand.

That was a boring game last night. However, a win is a win. The coaches and players get paid to win hockey games and this is what they are doing. Torts has this team believing and playing a real defensive trap system. Credit has to be given to the coaches and players.

However, It sure has made hockey not as exciting to watch. The late 80's and early 90's is when hockey was at its best. End to end rushes, wide open systems with skill level and creativity on display, fights, intimidation and intensity. I wish the league would get back to that style of play.

You're looking at Brad's play individually; look at team record last year and look at team record this year, that's the only stat that counts. He has solidified the hole in middle of NYR lineup; he also has 6 GWG

Well one goaltender let in a somewhat soft short side goal and the other pitched a shutout...I would say one tender outplayed the other.

Solid win. Good adjustment by Torts to neutralize Fatso's puck handling by sending only one forechecker.

PP was terribad again...love when they do the hard around and have nobody on the other side to retrieve:::ugh

Probably Hanks easiest game of the season.

Now for the Devils goonery
Boulton is a ******...trying to push Gabby around on the faceoff and then Deboer pulling him off the ice right after the puck drops so he doesn't have to answer to Rupp . Also trying to get Staal to go with him, honor the code you minor league scrub.
Zubrus had multiple elbows/forearm shivers to Cally and Richards prior to the call for elbowing Hagelin.
Clarkson same as Boulton...didn't record the game but did he also come in with a forearm when he jumped into Dubi?

And finally LMAO at Fatso for trying to sell the Cally bump...Cally must have only shot him with a .22, usually when Marty tries to sell that it's like he got shot with a .357 magnum.

Clarkson said he was trying to avoid Dubinsky because Dubinsky was trying to throw an illegal hit on him (on that charging play) and that's why he jumped a couple of feet into the air

Hopefuly John Scott will be on the ice next time we play NJD.

Torts needs just to unleash our new pitbull and let him take care of their goons.

LMAO pretty weak excuse but I'm sure Clarkson isn't getting a Mensa invite anytime soon. Dubi braced himself for that hit that was coming but was almost stationary at the time...freaking loser
