Two assists for McIlrath thus far. Anyone know if he's been getting any PP time this season? Doesn't look like it

Why is MacTruck still considered a prospect? He's played 100 NHL games.

I'd say the ranking of those 3 is actually quite good, if even a little optimistic, but the Rangers are a top 10 team in terms of prospects.

3 top 30 prospects is actually really legit.

Kinda surprise that only put us at 13.

I'd agree with the top 10 before the season, when McDonagh and Hagelin were still rookies, but now it's hard to argue with 13, I think.

to be fair though, as someone who saw McDonagh in college at least a dozen times, id say he's probably played better as a pro than he did in college...though i think part of that was he played on such an unbelievably stacked team that he just tried to be steady and not do too much...here you almost get the sense that he knows he has to be one of our best players, and hes risen to the occasion.

Awards:
McDonagh has played better in the NHL than in the AHL. His game gets better the more he is challenged.

So sort of off topic, but Brendan Shinnimin, our Traverse City invite of 2010 currently has 115 points in 59 games including 20 goals and 33 assists in his past 10 games.

still cant believe Sather was able to essentially do Gomez, Pyatt, Busto and Kotalik for Prust, Jokinen, McDonagh, and Valentenko

I was pushing real hard for him to get a contract last season here on HF.Too bad Sather does not read them often enough...

Hagelin should still be considered a prospect. They probably wrote this up a month ago. Wonder what their criteria is to be considered a prospect.

Hagelin is top 20 (#18) in the entire league in points during fulls strength play (5 on 5) per icetime minute. As a rookie! Let him fly under the radar...

We are significantly lighter in good prospects than we were 3 years ago.

This is mostly because they've all grown and are making an impact in the NHL now.

According to the WHL website, he has 23 goals and 20 assists in his last 14 games, and he's now up to 117 points in 60 games. In his last 10 games, he has 20 goals and 15 assists. That's 3.5 points per game over his last 10 games.

His numbers by month:

October: 13 games 4 goals 10 assists 14 points
November: 10 games 5 goals 13 assists 18 points
December: 10 games 11 goals 12 assists 23 points
January: 12 games 9 goals 10 assists 19 points
February: 14 games 23 goals 20 assists 43 points

What the hell happened in February? Did they make a trade and they just clicked?

Agreed. I often made the comparison to Brad Stuart when it came to McDonagh. It's pretty clear he settled into the role the coaches gave him at Wisconsin and since turning pro has broken out of that mold. Thank the coaches at UW for feigning a plateau in his development and causing the Habs to give up on him.

He should be tearing it up. He's a good offensive player that is now 21 years old but still playing against teenagers.

I'm kinda surprised to see Erixon ranked ahead of Kreider. Not to say Erixon isn't talented, but he really has no calling card. He's not an elite skater/athlete, he's not a PP specialist with a big shot, and he's certainly not a physical beast back there. He may very well have better instincts than Kreider, but CK is a bigger and faster dude with a wicked wrist shot.

Analysis / Comparision, please. Because maybe the current crop is somewhat lighter in high-end talent I just don't remember what prospects the Rangers had three years ago that would make them significantly better.
