I mean, our regular assistant captains frequent the press box so obviously it doesnt hold too much stock with Wilson. Might give the kid a push

Not everyone. And maybe as a fan of this failing franchise you could be more concerned with the garbage on ice product.

I kinda agree with the guy who said Aulie, it would make sense. Burke was always so high on Aulie, then poof he deals him.

Meh, what I said has just as much merit as a possibility as what you say.

We're all just throwing crap at a wall here, nobody knows what really goes on in the room.

I find it a bit hard to believe that of all the reporters in Toronto, it's Greg Brady who brings this "issue" forward.

This.

The rumour has been out there before that Phaneuf and Kadri have issues because Phaneuf thinks Kadri doesn't work hard enough. Maybe Brady's just behind the times.

I don't even know who Brady is. all I know, from experience, is that people who don't get a long can be fine on ice in game situations.

I can't believe that!

How could he be at odds with one young player displaying the leadership he does, being the GM's/Coach's pet and all?

my dad has been watching since mid 50s. he says HE IS THE WORST EVER.

I've been watching since early 90s and he is the worst I have seen.

Id rather have Pominville as captain.

I got ripped for saying as much when the fathead annointed him. Oh but Burkie "fleeced" Calgary. Hopefully Carter Ashton turns into something because Phaneuf is a dud @ 6.5M bucks and judging by how this team fails to show up for big games, he isn't much of a Captain either.

No coincidence guys like Brady and Feschuk show up for damage control in times like this. It's what they do best.

My tinfoil wearing head says he was chosen because of how smart he is and how Wilson could utilize that.

with the way the team has been playing lately the players damn well better be getting upset with eachother. wouldn't be suprised if we see another scuffle in practice either.

i wouldn't doubt at all that the younger guys on the team dislike phaneuf.

i don't know why anyone wouldn't believe this, given the way things are going. some fans still think everything is fine? doesn't this team stink of bad chemistry?

Dion can't do everything on the ice himself. I am not saying he is a great captain, but the fact is he has been overworked by Wilson. You can't expect him to score, fight, play against all the top lines, and play 25-30 minutes a game and be effective. If Wilson had the team play a much better/tighter system instead of this run and gun one, I am sure this team would not be playing as bad as they have looked. They have good players,Schenn being one of them, but the coaching system has killed them.

It wasnt Aulie. Aulie was losing waiver eligibility after this year and would not have passed through next season if he couldnt stick with the big club. Victim of numbers.

That and we got a power forward prospect for him.

Dion is the first thing I would move out of town after Wilson, if I could. The guy can't be moved with that contract so I don't mention it. He is absolutely the worst Captain.

Agreed. It's pathetic that he has to fight every time he lays out a big hit. Aside from the coaching in general, the Leafs need to start playing a more structured style. the run and gun stuff just isn't working.
