After all a recent SI players only poll, did rate Phaneuf as the NHL most overrated player.

I know I'm tired of it and I'm not even the captain.
Or it could be... the other way around!

So are you saying Schenn>Gardiner right now??? Cause thats nuts. At least when Gardiner "F"s up (and i agree he does) he can usually recover. When Schenn gets beat to the outside or inside it's over. Listen, i like Schenn, but if he wants to keep up he needs to ask Tavares who helped him with skating in the offseason. Guys like Schenn, Komi and yes even Phaneuf at time just look to slow right now. It would also help if Connolly and Lombardi decided to play even an ioda of defence.

Oh...ya, Burke, fire Wilson already.

Phaneuf has the second worst plus/minus among the D. Maybe somebody is cheesed at him for prancing around like he is the man.

Which is a huge problem in general among our defense, those guys are down right slow and even guys like Liles and Gunnarsson are just "ok" skaters. Phaneuf is decent if he is moving in a straight line, looks pretty slow skating backwards though.

Anyway about the rift, it would bother me if everyone was getting along right now the way things have been going. You don't have to be best buds in the dressing room to play well on the ice, Leafs had several good teams in the late 90's/early 00's where there was reports of rifts in the dressing room.

I don't listen to this Brady guy (although I follow him on twitter) so I'm not sure what he said 'exactly'.
I was at the game last night. Brady could have picked a number of players to say this about. Phaneuf was very animated with Schenn, Gardiner and Connolly all at different points of the game. Reimer screamed an "F" bomb at the D after the second goal. (and i mean he was looking right at them when he shouted "F").

Bull. I find it impossible to believe that Reimer swore.

Exactly, when a team is 1 win in 10 games, i would be very dissapointed if the captain wasn't being an A-hole. Guys, this is what a captain does, God knows our coach can't seem to correct it, so ets hope Phaneuf crawling up their arse motivates them

^ Reimer dropping an F bomb is the only real story in this thread.

I'm serious, right after the second goal. My seats were right behind the net and he looked to his right (i think at Komi) and literally screamed "F" so hard he almost jumped.

So we don't really know if this 'rift' happened last night, or it's something that has happened/or has been happening over the last little while and it's boiling over now?

I'm guessing there are many a sleepless night among the Leaf players these days.

Perhaps that is leading to the crankiness and irritability in the dressing room.

The commitment you have to sarcastic, dismissive posts really does impress me. Closing in on 40,000.

Nope. They both make major errors right now and typically they are the reason the team becomes deflated in game.

I do believe we are going to need a stronger leadership core than what is presently here. Looking ahead, if we have vets coming in, there may be cliques developing. Dion is a strong personality and another vet might not take to this approach.

It's amazing how a fabricated headline can create such a discussion.

Maybe if Connolly doesn't compete harder in games he can make him pay in practice.

Or even better Phaneuf could lead by example.

I guess we won that trade....but we gotta pay this dud 6.5 M till 2014 and that blows. I would have rather let the pieces we gave up for phaneuf go to ufa and use the 6.5 to sign say a Ryan suter.

It ws funny watching the mats ceremony. When it was ongoing and they panned to phaneuf I was like I can't believe this joke is wearing the C
