I feel bad for the guy. No doubt his marriage issues have had an effect on his play.

lol at him being described as "LA King goal scorer" though

Yeah similar thing happened to Hartnell in 09-10. It really affected his play.

Hartnell, Briere and Cote all went through that in Philly. Hartnell was really badly affected and Briere was, too. Cote only played 1 in 10 games and usually just a couple of minutes so it didn't make a difference.

"Filing for divorce" is not is not the same thing as "has gotten a divorce." It's not over yet. Hopefully they can resolve their problems and continue as a happily married couple.

They certainly look happy here ...

Penner has actually played well at times. Last couple of games he's looked like an angry man. As a Kings fan I would like nothing more than to see him be the player he can be.

Yeah, feel sorry for anyone who has to go through that. I got divorced, and I'm glad I did, but it's still not an easy road. Must be tough sledding.

Clearly, the divorce was due to irreconcilable differences over the pancake incident

Too bad. Not a fan of his play, but by all accounts is a nice guy.

There was some groupie/golddigger that was spreading rumors about him last season (which may or may not have had a play in his marital situation now.) Even though it was most likely BS, I think we all know how the women in our lives react to stuff like that. I was pretty sure it was an issue for him last year. Doesn't excuse his crappy play, but it is something that's out there I guess...

This could absolutely be what's causing his on ice struggles.

When you're having problems in your personal life, everything else can seem meaningless. It can suck the energy out of you.

I feel bad for the guy, this can't be a good time for him personally. It is surprising that this happened. I'm pretty sure they got married barely 1 year ago:

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...d.php?t=871608

And soon after that he was traded to the Kings. You would think with an aspiring actress wife, that she would be happier down here in SoCal rather than EDM. Guess things didn't work out that way.

Not an easy thing to deal with no matter the story behind it. Difficult to keep your focus. No fun

It's very, very simple. When they married, Penner had all his teeth. You lose one of your two front/top teeth, you're going to look fugly to your wife. Thus, we can blame Penner's poor play on the fact that he lost a tooth early in the season.

Ah, I see. She basically used him as a ticket to Hollywood & is now dropping him. How classy!

Well, she was married to another hockey player before Dustin, and Zednik never played in LA (even though I had kind of wished he did back in the day).

Funny how people think one day it's all good and the next day it's DIVORCE.

Some people go through 30+ years of absolute unhappiness before they finally throw in the towel and call a lawyer.

In Penner's case though, I think he's sucked because he's just lazy.

So will she be getting half of Dustin and Zednik's money? If so she's a smart broad.

I don't really like to get into these guys' personal lives, so I'll try to keep it to generalizations. Again, this is a generalization.

I think I posted something about how Canadian farm boys won't be able to handle life in LA, es. with a C-list actress/model wife with Hollywood dreams. It wouldn't be a stretch to assume they had to socialize in circles that were less than typical Canadian/American family-style. Not to say that lifestyle is all shady people, but a lot of it revolves around a**-kissing people and fakeness.

Quickie's wife: College/HS seethearts I think she's the daughter of his former coach or something. East coast hockey family.
Brownie's wife: Similar deal. Obviously not your Hollywood lady. More like soccer mom style lol

See the difference? Hockey players seem to need that down-to-earth wife. Especially as most are from middle of nowhere with snow lol.

I guess this is a thing because growing up in LA, many of us learned very quickly to stay away from Hollywood type women or women whose interest was being in those circles (unless of course you also want to be in those circles).

Anyway. I wish the best for Dustin. I almost want to see how he does after he gets over this.

It didn't bother Kobe Bryant's play but he did injure his wrist after announcing his divorce.

Rumor has it he's been seeing someone named Jamima.

Ok, I can't believe I succumbed to that.
