***The Official Los Angeles Kings 2006 Off-Season Thread***

Since the season is pretty much over and its gonna be another year without the playoffs, lets discuss what needs to be done in the offseason to improve us.

Drop your thoughts, I'll be back with mine...

It's not to late to save this season.

If the Kings get rid of Murray very soon, and add a d-man or two they will be fine.

The talent is there, IMO. But this is the worst coached team in the NHL, with a few really bad players (Weaver, Cowan, Parros).

I think if DT did anything we could be a 5 or 6 seed in the West and build on that for next year.

My first proposition is to trade away people who have to post how the season is over after every game the Kings lose.

Weaver's bad and Cowan's forgot his role. At least Parros does his job.

The Kings are still on pace to have more points than the 1993 team.

I didn't know I was on the Bruins board

This is probably the best analysis I have seen of this team by any poster on these boards. I am truly honored to share your opinion Herby.

You probably thought the same thing during the "March to the playoffs." You probably thought, just one or two more wins...

The problem with that statement is that the point total the Kings had in 1993 would not be enough for a playoff position.

The 93 team also added the greatest player ever for the stretch run. We are getting a washed up former superstar back for the stretch run.

The Kings are right on the fringe of the playoffs right now. Once these teams make up their games in hand.

What does my post have anything to say about what I think of the team?

It sucks, yes. But to start a new thread after EVERY loss saying how the season's over is useless. How about after every win, someone posts saying how the Kings are going to win the cup. Wouldn't that get grating?

Or do you only care to defend the opinions of those who agree with you, and don't care about the approach they express that opinion?

Every team goes through slumps. Its the way hockey goes. Some people need to realize that you can't win 82 games and maybe sometimes (god forbid) the other team on the ice will win some games.

Other need to realize that the coaching situation is not going to change like everyone wants it to because it will only make a "bad" situation worse, as one of the assistant coaches would most likely be hired on an interim basis until after the season, anyways, so what is the difference?

Well...that is regarded as the best Kings team of all time, yes?
