I believe it was Steve Yzerman who said: "Scotty Bowman was the type of coach you hated all season long until you had that Stanley Cup in your hands."

Good thing the players now have a coach who they like personally in Cunneyworth.

That went right over your head didn't?

Not sure where you got that I compared Bowman to Martin? I didn't even mention Martin's name in my post

Bowman won cups though. JM finished in 8th and pissed everyone off. Cammy hated him, Pac hated him, Markov (apparently) hated him...

I'm sorry but I don't see the big loss in tossing this guy out.

I'm sure the only guy that ever liked Martin was Patty Lalime.

I'm pretty sure when Markov spoke to the media his thoughts were to redirect attention to others instead of him. To me, his comment wasn't necessary especially in his condition; unable to play in the last couple of years!! Unprofessional in my eyes.....

I don't expect players to "like" their coaches.

Exactly what came to mind for me.
It was actually Steve Shutt:

“For 364 days of the year we all hated Scotty, then on the 365th day we picked up our Stanley Cup bonus cheques”

I feel kind of jealous that now that Wilson is on his way out, the Leafs get to chose any coach who is available.

Pretty sure Markov was joking.

Gotta love that colour commentary line they've had in the EA sports NHL games for games at the BC when they say "...in Montreal, if they even play a game, that's news"

play a game? Ha! That's almost making us seem disinterested.

It's weird that Markov would 'joke' about that. Doesn't make any sense.
russian sense of humor can be... dark at times. sometimes just plain weird
