I don't think he plays like Chipchura, and even though he's 24, he doesn't have to clear waivers to play in the AHL next year, so we have some time to see what he can do.

In Hamilton he worked hard each night and had a good physical presence. I could see him getting time on the 4th line next year.

I find myself wondering if a Geoffrion-Engqvist-White line might be worth a try at this point. I think that's a line where everyone compliments each other's strengths and weaknesses pretty well.

I'd actually like to see Geoffrion-White-Darche as a 4th line.

top 6 forward potential in his peak. seems like a clever player ... much more cerebral than pouilot since everyone are comparing both.

It would be. Engqvist should get some games in just to see how/if he has progressed from his previous call up.

wasn't the scouting report that someone posted recently that he was a "great skater"?

I didn't watch last game, will watch the next two to see if Geoffrion has one of those "Cammy at the Centennial Game" moments and also to cheer for us to beat the leafs. I think Geoffrion scoring the GWG on Saturday would be the best scenario.

one positive thing for him is he's gonna have some slack because of his name.

May as well, no point in waiting til the start of a season again to see if Engqvist is worth anything.

As far as Geoffrion being a regular NHLer it seems like more of a question to evaluate at the end of the season once he has played some games.

He was all right for his first game.

At one point, I saw him explode in the neutral zone. I couldn't believe how fast he was. Turns out it was #67 and not #57. It just made me appreciate Patches even more.

After one game I don't see how he's better than Palushaj, and Palushaj sucks. But whatever, its only 1 game.

I think he is a 4th liner, but a good one. In the past we have had pretty bad 4th lines, and, this trade is a good start in have a good 4th line for next year. Last year I watched a lot of the Nasvhille playoff games and he was really good, I think this year, Nasvhille expect him to produce offensively. If we can get a good 4th line centre next year, I'll be happy with a 4th line of Geoffrion-xxx-Moen/White.

I thought he looked good. I think he had a skate problem in the 3rd where he fell three times on shift. His skating is fine, he just doesn't have that explosiveness in his stride.

I think his I.Q of where to be on the ice to be above average and he has the heart and work ethic of a lion. I think he can be a solid 3rd liner. I loved his game in the playoffs with Nashville, even his play during the regular season. Give him some time.

I think that we should expect him to be a solid 4th line player. If he can play on the 3rd line one day (on a good team), it will be a pleasant surprise.

I didn't expect him to come out first game and put a mark on his back with "unnecessary" physical play. Getting comfortable while working hard over full shifts to keep up with NHL timing/pace, instead of running around like a bull in a china shop, is probably more important to him AND the coaches right now.

If Geoffrion and White can prove to be capable medium/long term 4th line solutions, I'll probably be satisfied. Then, I wanna see some of each of Nokes, Engqvist, and Nattinen in between them... next camp maybe. Interesting 4th line shaping up there. Now if we can just replace some of the scoring we've lost from the top 6, and shore up the defense a bit...

I agree. The one element that everyone agreed on was that he hit hard. I saw him battle near the boards, but no hits. Even Palushaj hits. We'll give him a couple of games to see what he brings.

He looked good to me, defintly a bottom 6 player, has size, and an awkward skating stride like most said, looks like he could develop into a solid 3rd liner/PK'r

He will be a regular 3rd line/4rth line at best... unless playing for Montreal unleash some inner boum-boum demon. Not the franchise forward some people/media thinks he will become.

Nashville didn't give him because they're friend with PG. He never made it in the Nashville regular lineup at 24... Nashville mind you. Sure the kid is an household name and he has talent... but I never understood the overjoy excitement people had when the trade was official. Sure got a lot in returns (but after thinking about it, I am pretty sure both deals with Nashville was really just one but some internal debate, or some hope that he would explode before the deadline, or even something about his agent (he did fire him for a reason after all) hold him up in Montreal. I mean, really. Gill doesn't have more value than AK no matter how you look at it.) but the draft pick are really the added value. Not the players.
