I wonder how much credit Rishaug should get, because I imagine him getting thrown under the bus hard as the Face of TSN here.
I'm sure he deserves some but...

More credit goes to the passionate hockey base we have here. Not many other markets would raise a stink about missing the first 30 minutes (really 10-12 minutes of the first period) for a 29th place hockey team.

The NHL will take any dollar that they can get and they should.

Glad they decided to lift the ban, as a diehard I am appreciative of this move. Thank you TSN. Gregor had a good point that the NHL schedule makers knew that TSN had a national exclusive deal on Wednesday nights yet decided to schedule the game anyway.

Glad it's cleared up.

The viewers' complaints counts for a lot. In the end, it was TSN's call to allow SNET to show the game from the beginning. It was just 2 weeks ago that the Senators fan base could not get their game on TSN or TSN2 despite the complaints. Last year at this time, the Flames had two Wed. games where the first 30 minutes of the telecast couldn't be shown due to the TSN rule. The other thing I heard that helped the Oilers case was that many of their weeknight home games this season start at 7:30 and that was when many TSN games were ending.

Really? They "should" prevent their fans from watching their team play? I guess you'd support advertising on uniforms too.

There is a contract in place. I don't see CBC allowing TSN or Sportsnet to do a regional broadcast on Saturday night.

Sportsnet itself won't allow itself to show Canucks regional broadcast in Alberta and vice versa.

Don't forget TSN, or any other network for that matter, have to do this to protect the peoples that pays their bills so that they can broadcast all these games to us, peoples that buy commercial spots and sponsors. And they bought that airtime. Go tell them we have to change your contract or the difficulties it would take to get a waiver signed by all involved.

What's the big deal with missing 12 minutes of the first period of the game? Reminded me when i was a little kid where i got upset at my mom staying on the news channel and i missed the start of an Oiler game as if I OWNED that TV and PAID for the cable. And yes, she gave me a good talk and smack...

I am sure a bunch of us including myself will be happy to post a few links of the stream for those who has access to internet.
its not that they won't allow themselves to show it, They aren't allowed to show it because they don't have national broadcast rights for the games. They only pay to broadcast the games to their local markets.
