We all know what happens with 1pm starts, but 12.30? Total chaos.

If you can't see it in his game, then sorry. While we are saying multiple starts in a row, can help a goalie's confidence, get in a groove doesnt mean we are saying you will be able to see a noticable difference in statistics. Thats the problem with stats, they don't tell the whole story.

Why not just award the Stanley Cup to the team with the best stats? Doesnt work like that, and neither do the stats you are presenting.
He just wanted to say "EMPIRICAL DATA". I guess he's learning about that in school so now WE have to learn.

I heard this term used so much lately on this board, and I absolutely despise the term! Stop using it people!

From Lisa Hillary, Nabby has stopped 104 of 108 shots directed at him this year. We need to crowd the crease and make sure as hell he doesn't see the puck on it's way in. Also Carle needs to actually hit the net, and not the defenders shin pads.

Problem is, when Carle hits the net the puck is going slowly enough that the goalie usually makes an easy glove save and stops play. We then have a faceoff that we are likely to lose.

Carle is with Coburn to start.

My guess is Timonen-Kubina; Meszaros-Grossman.

Here's to Bryz playing another solid game, and to the scoring coming back this game please and thank you, and thankfully the Hobbit isn't seriously hurt from that lame ass hit

Confidence isn't the same thing as results. Stats tell a lot of the story and certainly the story they're telling is: Consecutive starts =/= statistical improvement.

Quote:
Why not just award the Stanley Cup to the team with the best stats?
Never said anything like that. You can strawman me all you like.

Quote:
Also, what part of confidence don't you get? I don't know any player that wears socks 3 games etc in a row because they believe the socks make them play better, but because its routine, and not following routine puts they're mind off, because they feel lucky, also a mental state. Both can not be quantified into statistics, so how can you show stats against that?
I was making an example. The odd nuances of player's superstitions are well documented. My point is that citing the players as a reference is silly. Often they put forward the myth, along with broadcasters. They're unreliable.

Quote:
And you are wrong to say goalies who like more shots are wrong to say that. They feel involved in the game, follow the play better etc, again a mental state of mind, a confidence.
Wrong according to whom? The stats don't bear it out. There is no correlation between high amount of shots and an increase in save percentage. You can say I'm wrong all day, but people have done leg work on this and shown it is a hokey thing to claim.

Quote:
Your use of stats is rather pathetic, and you are showing that you have A) a very limited knowledge of hockey outside of paper B) have never played the game, C) don't understand the culture within the game, behind the locker room doors.
Yes, facts can be very upsetting when they run counter current to your beliefs / culture you pretend to be in / what you've heard Bill Clement say. Unfortunately, "paper" shots happen in real life and can be easily counted and quantified. As can starts, and consecutive starts. There is nothing "paper" about it.
