Don't agree with Torts benching Dubinsky for the remainder of the game after the penalty... You want to send a message? Fine, bench him for the entire 2nd period, but don't not allow the player to redeem himself out on the ice.
He has gathered up for that benching with a season of underperformance.
PoTG: Prust and Boyle. Prusts' final shift was epic.
The Good: Biron, AA, McD, Gabs, Step, Staal, and Lawman Stralman knocking down Skinner.
The Bad: Tort's completely doghousing Dubinksy. Dubi's dumb penalty. Richards absent-mindedly watching Biron get mugged for that second goal.
The Redden: MDZ's injury.
you really didn't like this? regardless of his play of the past 3-5 weeks (longer than that prolly) Torts is making a statement. Play like that doesn't win championships. You have to be a better player than that. I loved it. And as many people have said you didn't even notice he wasn't there.
Bickel played pretty well defensively tonight. Biron was good and got us the win. Arty showed off some of his firepower.
Dubi took a real stupid penalty and got benched for it. I don't think he should've lost the entire game. The way I look at it is he's a player who is struggling confidence-wise, so ok, you bench him for a period to get your message across. But with someone who is having head problems already I feel like it's necessary to give them a chance to redeem themselves. No doubt this is going to get in his head probably more than it should.
Edit: Although he has sucked recently and maybe it was a good choice to sit him and really drive that message home... I'm sure the coach knows what he's doing.

I understand he's making a statement. Benching him for both the entire 2nd and 3rd periods was too much imo. Keeping him away from the second would have sufficed. Now Dubi doesn't get a chance to redeem himself. I understand where your coming from but I feel like Dubi should have gotten somthing, a shift, to redeem himself.

They need to get Dubinsky going before the playoffs roll around... Sitting him on the bench the entire game is not going to help accomplish that goal. We've had other players take stupid penalties and not get the same treatment.

I think Tortorella is fed up with Dubinsky's underperformance. Okay, so he went hard on Dubi. Tortorella was basically telling Dubi that he doesn't deserve to get away with a selfish and retarded penalty like that, while we know that a Gaborik or a Callahan or a Richards or a...would. I'm okay with the discrimination. That discrimination is completely cool.
Dubinsky needs to fix his game.

Eh...the more I think about it, the more I'd agree with that. But the more I remember how this team has played as a whole recently with bonehead BS and silly penalties. This was a statement not only to BD, but to the rest of the team. You play like **** you ride the pine pony.
Happy we won, but we gotta start beating these bottom teams with authority.
We have to start beating someone with authority. I worry what happens if those 1 goal wins turn into one goal losses. Not to mention that the game winning goal came on a bounce off the linesman, what happens when we don't get those bounces? We outplayed Carolina. I didn't see like 10 minutes of the game, but from what I saw we outplayed them, but it's still only a 3-2 win, which easily could have been a loss and even more easily gone to OT (though the way Carolina has been in OT or the SO, that's probably a win)
