Im actually worried about the playoff seeding

Looking at the playoff seeding, I see us 1st but I see washington 8th (winnipeg is currently 8th but they are only 1 point up and washington has 3 games in hand)..the capitals are the one team I don't want too see in the first round, they haven't had there best season obviously but no one can deny there offensive firepower and one team capable of an upset over an opponent are the caps, I kno there are still 20 games left and everything could change between now and then but **** I really hope we don't end up facing these *******s

I'm not scared of any 8 seed. Sure, anyone can beat anyone, but the Caps this year are a shell of their former selves. As for Winnipeg...yeah no.

I don't think you are alone. I think getting home ice for rounds 1 and 2 would be huge. However, the Caps, this year, do not concern me. I respect the Caps and can see them being tough but I think any team fits that description. I think the Rangers can win that series. No matter who the Rangers play, I do not expect a quick series. I think any match up brings concern.

Different team and year. We would crush the Caps in a 7 game series. Bring it!

Only team I am truly worried about would be Pitt. We would crush any other team.

I think it would be good for us to play the Caps. Kinda like slaying the dragon.

Still a lot of hockey left to play - enough for Washington to get on a roll and become a 3rd seed. And even if it is going to be Washington, their team has had a weak psychy in the play-offs ever since they lost to Pitts in that 7 game series - and it's even more of a problem this season because it seems to impact their regular season now as well.

Agreed. Espcially if Pitt gets Crosby back.

As for the Caps, please.....We will have a combo of Girardi, Staal, McDonagh matched up against him whether in Washington or NY.

Playing and beating the Caps will allow the team to come full circle from last seasons defeat. Let's not forget the Boston beating Philadelphia in the 2nd round last year gave them a lot of confidence going forward after what happened in 2010.

I think this team is different than years past.

They're young but not entirely inexperienced, great goaltender, they fight for every inch of ice and every loose puck, great leadership and a never quit attitude.

It's other teams that don't want to face us in the playoffs.

no need to worry unless backstrom comes back. Then they're a completely different team. Green will almost definately be back come playoff time

Great point.

I think intimidation plays a big factor here. For once, we won't be the underdog.

But imagine if we lose. It would be horrible. Obviously I'm not a player on the team, but as a fan there is a little psychological fear of playing the Capitals and losing to them again. Hopefully the the players are a little more psychologically ready than me

It would be awesome to finally beat them though. Kind of like what we did to the Devils in 2008. That was so satisfying.

Wouldn't mind giving the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise another sweep

I've never been afraid of the Caps, there is a reason they can't get past the 2nd round. Is it ignorant to say that after they beat us last year? I don't think so, we definitely weren't a contender last year. This team is different and we can beat the Caps this year, no doubt.

Finishing #1 is very important. Finishing #4 and possibly playing the Pens or Senators in round 1 is a scary thought, those are the two teams that worry me the most, I just want to get the playoffs started already I am ready to go.

These last 20 games are for Power Play practice and the Hank MVP audition

Washington doesn't scare me this year. Backstrom is their glue guy, and he is on long term IR. Mike Green has been in and out of the lineup this year and Ovie is having an off year.

That, and pedestrian goaltending spells a first round exit for the Caps, and also Dale Hunter hasn't injected a lot of energy into their team- they are just brutal on the road.

Besides Pitt, I just don't want to face Ottawa, they play us tough and they are cooking up some kind of magic up there this year,

Would prefer not playing Washington and getting one of the Jets or Panthers. Hoping the Caps either win the division or don't make it at all.

Why Worry?

YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE BEST TO BE THE BEST!!

If they get picked off in the 1st round, they don't deserve to party with the cup.

That's what "the process" Torts talks about all the time is all about. This is a good team, they work hard. But do they have the right mix of youth, leadership, grit, and an overall understanding of what it takes to make through the rounds and to the final?

This is why they went out and got Brad Richards and Mike Rupp, Feds... I honestly think this team is built for the playoffs. Sather has done a GREAT job setting the table. Stay healthy and play Torts hockey and this team is going to steamroll through the east.

Seriously, I hear your concerns...right now Bruins have a cupcake road to the finals...But things can still change. The last 10 games are always crazy in the standings...Devils are going to be shifting around and that 3rd seed is going to be ridic...

I agree with the thread starter here. Caps will, naturally, become beasts if they make the playoffs.. Usually, they coast through the regular season, and collapse in the Playoffs (after beating us, of course) this year might be the other way around. Especially if they get Bäckström back in time, + Green is back now too.

Pittsburgh is the main threat though, at least to me. Bruins shouldn't be forgotten neither.

There are three things I am sure of:

Tomorrow the sun will rise.

This team will not have to win its last game to make the playoffs.

And barring major injury this team is not going out in round one.

What makes this Caps team different from past teams - for the last few seasons, they have built big divisional leads and subsequently coasted into the playoffs. This year, if they make the playoffs, it is because they had to bust their butts to even get there.

The Rangers are a great team, but IMO, if they draw a matchup with the Caps in round 1, they will be ripe for the picking.
