Drake--Well, that's nice...even if it's only temporary.

BFC--if you can get fired or laid off you'll at least qualify for unemployment--as long as it isn't for negligence or something like that.

Not sure, probably a few months. I've had some rough luck financially out here, which began with my school messing up my student loans in the fall, so I need to re-group for a bit. I'm trying to find a job in Nashville and live with the family to save money and then come back here in the summer if all goes well.

See how much you can get away with before getting caught. Take a nap in your car during work hours. Come in an hour late and leave an hour early. I'm interested to see how much it takes and how long it will take before you are canned

Hey everyone. A recently relocated Buffalonian coming in peace, wondering how much I should be freaking out with the tornado watches? I'm used to blizzards, but this is a whole new world to me, just looking for some advice. Thanks

C0 turned into an f-. Management full out told me that they would not fire me nor lay me off. And it would have been me calling them EVERY day telling them I can't come in. Because if I didn't call in I would have enacted a clause in the union contract stating that I was 'involuntarily quit' Yeah, there is that clause.

Simply put, I'm done with them. and they don't believe in doing a simple thing such as being responsible to their workers.

I'm job hunting through my cold cold heart is thinking vengence.

Advice? Get used to it. Happens all the time. Worked with an older lady from Western NY and she would freak out when the NTL weather service beeping came over the radio. It was hilarious.

A couple of things:

1) Don't freak out. Seriously, chances are nothing will happen. Just in case something does happen you'll want to...

(and this is where the Fitzgerald Rule comes in. "Always follow rule number 1 except for the times you should ignore rule number 1)

2) find a safe place in your home or building. You want to be as far away from exterior walls, windows, and large objects that can be knocked over on to you as possible. If you have enough warning you may want to stock this place with pillows, blankets, anything that can act as protection just in case something does come flying your way. Also, you could be in there a while, so you may as well be comfortable.

To add a bit to that, you'll want to buy a weather radio because the power WILL go out when you need it most. Plus it'll wake you up if you're asleep. You don't want to be asleep when one is near. Keep a stock of batteries and some flashlights during the spring time.

3) If you are at work and about to get off, stay there if at all possible. Traffic is going to suck. The weather is going to suck. Just stay where ever you are. This being a relatively regular spring-time (haha spring) occurrence, most places will accommodate.

How frequent are they anyway?

Depends. Some years it isn't too bad. Some years you'll have a tornado watch or warning once a week at least in March and April.

Wow, the NY state redistricting map looks normal and not gerrymandered at all!

How long will THAT last?

Until the effects of whatever they were smoking when they drew it up wears off??

On a similar note, I was reading an article today about the former Speaker of the House here retiring, and in it it mentioned how about 10 years ago, he was in charge of the House when the prior redistricting was done, and of course he and his party drew up the redistricting map to benefit their party. Their counterparts across the aisle approached them about having an independent comission do the redistricting, which they summarily ignored. Well, here we are about 10 years later, the counterparts across the aisle have the majority in both chambers, and it's time to redraw the district maps again. Guess who's all in favor of an independent commission redrawing the maps now?? Ahhhhh, the irony of it all. They are now reaping what they've sown, and I for one am glad to see it.

Went to St. Louis this weekend for Radiohead @ ScotTrade Center. Stayed at the Hilton at the Ballpark. Our room overlooked Busch Stadium, like literally, I was overlooking the diamond from our window. $155 total.

Went to Tin Can Tavern on Locust, cool local bar and they had a shuttle that took us to the show. They do this for all events/sports. On the shuttle we were like what do you like shuttling more concerts or sports. Dude goes "Concerts......meh....Hockey game are NUTS!"

St Louis is insane. Definitely bigger and more insane than Nashville. If we ever play STL in the POs hfboards/preds definitely need to make a trip up there. 5 1/2 hour drive is no sweat and we need to dominate those lame midwesterners.

P.S.

Schafly Pale Ale sucks!
