Exactly. And Wellwood just adds to the pot if he can be an effective top 9 fill-in guy already.

I'm with Chris on this one. I like what Jagr has brought to the team this year, but you have to start giving some of the young guys Jagr's minutes at ES and on the PP so they can start to develop chemistry and confidence in all situations with the other core players going forward.

Fair enough, but I still think that whether Jagr comes back will be determined by his play down the stretch and, if they make it, in the playoffs. If Jagr plays really well and wants to come back, Homer will re-sign him - if only to keep him from getting ticked and signing with the Pens or Rangers and taking it out on us!

Briere needs to finish strong or they could put pressure on him to look elsewhere...which would solve a lot of cap issues.

I also think we'll see at least one of those forwards dealt for a Dman, if Suter can't be had, and Carle walks, we'll have to find a dman elsewhere and that might cost Read or JVR depending on who it is.

INJURY UPDATE: Flyers GM Paul Holmgren on James van Riemsdyk: "James will have surgery on Mar. 6 to repair a broken bone in his left foot. Dr. Steven Raikin will put a plate in to help with the healing process. James will be out 4-6 weeks."

I believe in taking one for the team, but in this case, JVR did more than that... hope he recovers and is ready for playoffs.

Like I said upthread..better not be the same doc and "experimental" plate Carter got b/c he had complications this year with it or at least it was suspected. They had a report in the Columbus press about it when he was battling injuries...

The experiment must have been "Well I'm out of titanium. Maybe this crushed beer can will work."

Player A:

62 Games
11 Goals
23 Assists

.548 PPG

3:25 PP TOI/Game

Player B:

43 Games
11 Goals
13 Assists

.558 PPG

2:47 PP TOI/Game

Pretty much the same, right?

One of those players is someone everyone always raves about, and the other is someone people only complain about.

the only unfortunate thing about this injury is that it is going to be that much harder to move him in the offseason

All this hate for JVR really baffles me.

He plays injured and isn't completely productive: "Oh, he sucks."

He stays out with his injuries: "Oh, he's a wuss and doesn't want to get traded."

It's like he can't win.

Wanna compare that with Voracek's numbers above him?

Same amount of goals in 20 less games....

I wonder if it's the same guy who filled Gagne's neck with glue, or whatever

I don't hate JVR, he has lot's of promise but its as if he doesn't fit well with Flyers type of play. How can a guy shine in the playoffs and than be so quiet during the regular season, its baffling. I cut him slack because he's only 22yrs old but the guy has size and a great shot and we seldom ever see it.

Hip impingement, sprained knee, concussion, broken foot.

He doesn't suck, he's hurt. That is actually an excuse, unlike what people in sports like to say. The healthiest good team often wins the championship.

Next year will be a big year for him. I'm saying 30+ goals.

I see a big difference on how Voracek plays compared to JVR, Voracek actually looks like he's putting in 100%, he's just not getting the goals.
Plus this is Voracek's first season with the team, takes a while to fit in.

Screwed?

Might as well amputate JVR's foot Civil War style..looks like it's the same doctor who put screws in Pronger's foot but that experimental plate in Carter's foot..hopefully he doesn't use JVR as another guinea pig...

Quote:
Pronger had two screws inserted into his foot yesterday afternoon by Dr. Steven Raikin to strengthen the bone.

He is expected to miss approximately 4-to-6 weeks.

Pronger’s surgery was different than Jeff Carter’s last year, when he had a plate inserted into his foot instead of screws.

Yeah I remember that as well..caused suspected complications as well when he was in Tampa. It was also experimental..injected some kind cells or Sneaker Goop in Gagne's neck....

I think they should stick to more proven methods but it's possible the players sign waivers or something b/c they just want to heal quicker. I think that was the case with Carter who wanted to come back for the playoffs...not that it mattered when he got back...

Your eyes lie to you. Jvr will always have a problem in this town because the majority of Flyers fans think like this. Jvr is an effortless skater, like Carter, so he'll always be labeled as having lack of effort because he doesn't have a short choppy stride.

Jvr definitely doesn't give the effort on D that Carter/Voracek do though.
