I think they are the most successful Sun Belt team of them all. LA takes in slightly more revenue but LA has several times the population.

Sharks took a hit in attendance after 02-03 (the last time they were out of the playoffs), and took a bit to get back to sell outs after the 04-05 lockout.
I think their marketing "Player is a lousy <profession>, but a really good hockey player" videos have been a real help. They have been using that for 3 seasons now. (See the 11-12 team promo vid thread for this year's. Boyle and Thornton are doing their second one.)
They are shown not only during the game 'cast, but on the local/regional cable sports channels throughout the day as well as selective OTA channels/times.
Except that LA has made it to the Stanley Cup Finals once (with Gretzky, many years ago) and has been around more than 40 years (nearly a quarter century more than Sharks), I would agree, especially in recent years.
