I'm not going to attack any of your statements with one exception (because the rest is so wrong, you aren't going to be changing anyone's mind)
20 years old is a perfectly valid reason to be patient. It's the most valid reason in the world. I want you to look up how old Ryan, Getzlaf, Perry, McDonald were when they started to become dominant. This isn't some UFA experiment that failed. This is a guy that we drafted and are developing into a star. He's also on an Entry Level Contract. That's as cheap as it's going to get for a guy like him.
Just 2 things to add. It's wired how Fowler gets bashed here. He is 20 years of age and doing great. He will be a Duck for a long time and I'm fine with that. By the logic of some here we would have to trade half of the team.
Secondly and that's IMHO the more important one, signing Suter will set the bar for the highest paid player. Right now noone gets more that Getzlaf. What beside money can the Ducks offer to Suter? 7+ Mil is the bar then. How would you handle Getzlaf and Perry? Will they take a discount when you pay another player that amount?
Btw that biggest issue we have on D is Lyman and Visnovsky who both play not nearly as good as last season. Together with the recovery of Hiller cost us the season.
Although horrendous for the club I think this season was good for the kids. They learned how to go through bad times. They learned what it takes to come out of the slump. If the gap increases I'm all for recalling Holland and Palmeri plus adding Schultz to the roster.
I still want a try of a Ryan - Bonino - Palmeri line
Btw, I think the Ducks are on a good way. We wanted to avoid rebuilding after Burke left - we managed it quite well. Seasons like this araise from time to time.
Well obviously too many Fowler lovers here. I'm not here to argue or pick fights just stated my opinion about him.
Just to point out none of you defended his game, pus minus, turnovers, missed shot etc all your argument is age age age.
His inability to step up this year affected power play, goals against. It wasn't just him but he has a big role in this.
Did it ever occur to you that there is nothing to defend? Anyone who has actually seen the kid play regularly will tell you his defensive game this season has been solid. His plus/minus has as much to do with just being on the ice a lot. You're exaggerating the turnovers and missed shots. That leaves... what? His offense, and since it's clear he's being asked to focus on his defense, that seems to speak for itself. As well as the fact our PP has looked better since Lubo was taken off the 1st unit. He and Getz seem to work well together on the point.
