Will Carlyle have any time at all to implement a new system? Or are we essentially going to see the same thing as usual except with a guy who does more than just stand behind the bench with nothing to say. Tommorows game definitely got more interesting.

Well all he's going to get is a morning skate and meeting the team the night before. Going to be more about emotions from the change. Well I'm mostly fine either way.
I think the players should really be fired up tonight playing for the new coach. Don't expect too much of the team still for the rest of the year though. I'm hoping for Carlyle to instill some good habits into all of the players over the remainder of the season so that next year we can start off well using the coach's system from day 1.

Get the win against the Habs out of the way and go back to tanking.
Seriously though I'm expecting a win so it takes a bit of pressure of the players (even though I'm sure the coaching change did that) and then they go back to being draft hopeful.

Yeah, its quite the upheaval with little time for it to sink in (although its not like it wasn't totally out of nowhere).
Its hard to predict how the players will respond; I guess if they look like a totally different club than the last 11 days we'll know why....
Well I think it's pretty hard for him to make a new system under 1 day, but hopefully with the new coach they respond to actually playing with heart, Hopefully we show up tonight, GO LEAFS GO!
In answer to the thread title, I'll take the lottery pick for now. If the fans' theory that veteran NHL coach Wilson was so bad at coaching that he has messed up the entire team, changing the head coach isn't changing anything radically enough over night. They might win a few games in a row now, they're due to win whether the coach's name is Wilson or Carlyle, but the same assistant coaches are in place messing with the defensemen's heads, the same forwards are avoiding contact and the same goalies are in goal letting in stoppable shots.
