Picked up Drive the other night on y'alls recommendation. All I can say is.... wow. How did that not get more attention? The whole thing is just charged with tension. So well made.
Also I was wondering why that Kavinsky song was charting in the iTunes store despite being released for a while... mystery solved. Great opening sequence/credits.

Really? I haven't seen it yet but i have heard some not so good things about it.
Yeah, Drive was a good watch. I thought it was beautifully shot and the score/soundtrack was awesome. I thought the story was a bit lacking but okay.
Saw The Descendants as well, that was pretty decent. Still need to see most of the Best Picture noms. Also, Goon was not the absolute worst movie in the world. Much better than I imagined.
On Drive, I work as a supervisor at a movie theatre after class and Drive was marketed horribly. The trailers tried to show it as a badass action/driving movie, ala Fast and the Furious, when that is not what the movie wanted to be. A lot of people who went to see it had the wrong mindset when going to it which is probably why it didn't have as much buzz as it should've had. I loved it though one of my favorites of the year for sure.
Saw spiderman today, I thought it was better than the Tobey version but still not top knotch. I guess I don't know what I'm looking for in a superhero movie but I've not seen the hype for most of these types of movies.
Do you guys know where I can watch online movies for free that are still in theaters? I'd love to watch Ted .. if anyone has a link or wtv it be awesome!

Thought it was pretty funny, not as funny as I was hoping though. In the first half, there were parts were I was trying to catch my breath from laughing so hard. However, in the second half, there were maybe 3 really funny parts.
So who is seeing The Dark Knight Rises on opening day?
I am fairly certain I've watched/read every bit of hype involved with the movie since it's announcement.
Everything I've read says it's going to be a complete masterpiece from start to finish.
It's Christopher Nolan, so it has to be a masterpiece.
And on the Ted subject again, most comedies seem to do that. They start off super strong then fade down the stretch. Superbad is a great example of it. Easily one of the funniest first 30-45 minutes of a movie ever.
Ted was funny, not Hangover 1 funny. If they would have left out the romance part of the story and went a different direction it would have been a lot better.
The Prestige is incredible. I would recommend seeing The Illusionist if you haven't yet. It's similar to The Prestige in the magician / plot twist sort of way, and Rufus Sewell is fantastic in it.

Loved "The Prestige." Hated "The Illusionist."
Both came out around the same time. Regarding the magic, "The Illusionist" relied too much on mystical powers whereas "The Prestige" showed us HOW the tricks were executed. Beyond that, the story was amazing about two rival magicians one-upping each other. Insert a bit of real science, some science fiction, freakin' David Bowie as Nikola Tesla, cool plot twists (but not too confusing so you can still connect all the dots together), and introspective philosophical questions ("Would I do that?"), and you get one of my favorite movies of the 2000s.
