Buf-Edm

To Buf: 2012 1st round (assuming 2nd overall)-Grigorenko

To Edm: 2012 1st round (assuming top 10) + 2x 2012 2nd round

Assuming Edmonton doesn't trade C Sam Gagner in the offseason, they can take advantage of draft deep with D man to take care area of need, Buffalo drafts a potential No. 1 in addition to Hodge

Yeah I figured it would take more, I do think that for the right price the pick is obtainable by Buffalo, perhaps 2 1sts, just don't think Edmonton would need any more young forwards and would start building up a future defensive core in a deep draft for Dman

Edmonton might bite if you offer them Nsh 1st.

Also it depends on Buffalo's draft pick. Emd would only accept if it was around 6th overall to nab Galyenchuk or something.

1st- that's a huge assumption that Buffalo will nose dive and get the 2nd overall pick. I highly doubt this will happen. Most likely the closest Buffalo gets is 5-8 overall.

2nd- even though the Sabres have Hodgson, they still need a top tier center. Whether it be thru trades or the draft. So if anything, the Sabres may try to trade up in the draft to get a potential franchise center.

Roy will be HEAVILY shopped, and probably packaged with picks to see if any team bites. The goal being to land that top tier center.

Proposals involving a wing or a Dman is a non starter IMO. Propose your centers and the debate can mean something.

The OP proposed that Buffalo will acquire EDM 1st pick which is projected to be 2nd overall.

He's proposing that Buffalo will trade up for EDM's second overall pick to take Grigorenko.

How about Buffalo's 1st rounder for Edmonton's 2 2nd and 2 3rds?

No? Didn't think so.

Sorry, toooootally misread that. Yikes

Sabres would need to throw in someone like Psysk or Schiestel

Well seeing as that Edmonton has an abundence of young forwards and is lacking at defense it would make sense to trade for more high picks in a draft deep with D men

It's no secret Edmonton need some top end Dmen.

What's not realized is that Edmonton can't wait the 4 years+ for a defenceman to develop.

What defenceman picked after pick 3-5 has gone in and made a real difference for his team within 3 years?

Tyler Myers started in that direction but hit a snag or Plateau'd a bit?

Cam Fowler had a great rookie year and progressing well it seems but he's still not yet the bonafide anchor type(if that makes sense) that Edmonton desperately needs.

Sure there's probably a couple in this draft that can crack the 5-6 spot in a year or two. But that's not what Edmonton needs.

I think Edmonton will just draft whomever they think will be the Best player at that draft spot. Defenceman, Winger, Center be damned.

That's really not a good example, you should be asking if we'd trade down to the 15th pick and add another 2 seconds, but anyways buffalo has to add.

Buffalo is picking, what, like 8-10th? Not even close. The only way the Oilers trade down is maybe from 2nd to 3rd to skip on Grigs and take Murray imo. Bigger gambles aren't even worth discussing.

I think in order to get that pick, buffalo would have to offer something like:

To Buffalo:
EDM 1st round pick 2012

To Edmonton:
BUF 1st Round Pick
CGY 2nd Round Pick
D - Brayden McNabb

Sends them a first and second plus a young NHL ready Dman that is likely to be top 4 probably top 2. Plays a physical game with offensive upside. Made a great showing of himself today.
