Top 6 Pick Please!
This firing should have happened last week, when we had a good chance. I don't like Carlyle style at all.

No this requires all out commitment to the cause. The Islanders have fired up their tank this week. Formidable opposition I'm afraid.
I'm happy with the Carlyle hiring just don't need any screwing with the tank. Slow and deliberate transition to his system is what I want so we come out firing next season.

Switching to a new coach could go either way. Sometimes you get a new coach and you get on a streak, other times you see a new coach and they tank 5 or so games before they get new systems down.
Dion will be slowest to learn any new system.

Only thing I don't like about it is our forward corps are ill-equipped to adapt to his style save for Kulemin, Steckel, and Brown. The others are small and/or passionless and incapable of forechecking

At least Kessel scores. There are a few guys ahead of Kessel that should be benched for doing absolutely **** all.

If he benches Kessel for that, he'll have benched 3/4 of the team before Kessel... we'd have to forfeit

I think the Kessel line can do a pretty good job playing the board game when they want. Lupul and Bozak are excellent at cycling the puck, and they are all fast enough to be effective forecheckers. It's just a matter of lighting a fire under their ass and getting them to do it.

weve got to keep the tank going. if we start winning now then with we will end up 9th/10th. and we all know that its almost like the leafs cant live without their signature spot.

If he does,I hope him and the rest of the team shine tonight.

My version of the tank is hoping the out of town scoreboard favours it rather than flat out not wanting the Leafs to win. Leafs will take care of the losing part themselves,it's the other tank teams I'm more worried about.

If we have to bench Kessel, nobody would be on the ice in the game because there are about 16 guys I'd bench before Kessel.
He at least works hard every game to score goals to help this pathetic team.

What is wrong with that?
He's leaning to the veteran Komisarek to see how he plays under him before he benches his ass.
Kulemin has been good defensively and his offense his non-existent, so he's basically a 3rd line checker from hereon this season.
Lombardi has speed to complement Brown, and chances of them scoring are negative. So he's also a checker..

Interesting lines at morning skate....as per Jonas Siegal
Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
MacArthur-Grabovski-Frattin
Connolly-Steckel-Kulemin
Brown-Lombardi-Crabb
Gunnarsson-Phaneuf
Liles-Komisarek
Gardiner-Schenn
Armstrong/Franson extras
Be interesting to see how Schenn and Komi respond to a more defensive coach

I actually like the looks of that third line, Steckel and Kulemin are two huge guys and Connolly isn't a liability in his own end. Would have liked Armstrong on the other wing though, I thought he was pretty effective last game.

Connolly on the wing. Can you imagine him going into the boards and playing that kind of dump and chase physical hockey that Carlyle demands?
He'll be benched after 1 shift.
