There is also a difference though at dominating at this level and dominating at the next level. Lots of great OHL players cannot play at the next level.

Personally I think when it is all said and done Baptiste will be drafted higher than Horvat because scouts will see a better NHL potential in him.

Talent comes at different speeds, development can take more time. That being said, skill and hockey sense don't grow on trees. Part of why some guys are rated higher even though their stats are worse is that some get zero PP time, others play with a zero offence team, others play 10-12 minutes not 20, and some simply show a lot but it doesn't show up on the stats sheet.

Can a guy succeed without a lot of help? Many can't. Can a guy make his teammates better, his team better, year after year? A rare skill but highly valued by too few GM's.

I'm really hoping Montreal finishes dead last so we get the hometown boy Nathan MacKinnon.

Halifax is roughly 650 km from Boston.

Distance to Montreal: 780 km or so.

Hometown boy?

FamousTee's location says Halifax so I'm assuming he is talking about his Nathan Mckinnon being from his hometown going to his team in Montreal.

IIRC he's on Sarnia right now.

I think he's a top 5 pick at the moment... You'd have to ask Scoutman1 when he comes through and makes a new 2014 draft list... TBH we are all so excited about 2013 we haven't thought about how good 2014 is with DeAngelo, Koy, etc.

What do you people think of Jonathan Drouin? played the first half of his year in Major Midget in Quebec, now has played 24 games with the Halifax Moosheads and has 21 points working his way into the line up. Personally by IMO by the end of 2012 he'll be ranked in the first round but as of right now he is pretty much unmentioned.

1. Chicago - C Nathan MacKinnon

The rest I don't care about because I'll be too busy celebrating like we won the Stanley Cup.

So I guess you are giving up Toews for him?

Nope. I will attempt to use Jedi mind tricks to make the team with the #1 pick take Frolik.

I've been following Drouin since his days with the Lions and at the Telus Cup. His transition to the QMJHL has been great so far if we're evaluating him on his offensive game. However, his defensive game needs a lot of work, sometimes he seems lost when he doesn't have the puck. There's something I don't like about him, it's that he's on the same team as MacKinnon. When he's on the powerplay, it's either he makes the play to MacKinnon, or all the other teamates give the puck to MacKinnon as if they were so intimated with MacKinnon. Drouin has an extreme vision and high hockey IQ, and his size may not be an issue right now, but as for next year and for his career in the NHL, he has to grow a little more and add more size. He could have a growth spurt or if he reaches the same height and weight as Huberdeau, I can see him being a very high draft pick next year. If we compare his hockey sense with MacKinnon and Duclair, I would say Drouin is a much more cerebral player.

I have heard a lot of good things about a lot of these kids. Scorers, play 200 feet, handle pressure, play on the PK, different lines. Pulock and Roy, Monahan and MacKinnon, Barkov, some guys starting to turn it on like Shinkaruk and even Kujawinski.

2014 will have guys like Deangelo and Reinhart but I have a hard time seeing the depth match up with 2013. If you look at ProScout's list, I'd say guys he has ranked in the 20's would go top 10 in 2010, 2011, or 2012.

It will be very interesting the rest of the way until 2013 June. Of course, as a Leaf fan I fully expect them to turn stupid and trade away draft picks and ignore the scouts to take big bodies like Biggs last year, as Burke commanded.

1987 Sakic, no draft Richardson. Trade away prospects from 1990-2008. Trade away top draft picks for Kurvers, Housley, Leetch, Rask, Raycroft...

For once, I want to listen to people talk about what a good draft Toronto had, instead of talking about Clark, Damphouse, Sittler, and MacDonald.

Lucky enough to watch Bo Horvat dominate offensive AND defensively as Team Ontario's captain at the U17's in December. I can honestly say that I don't think I seen Bo lose a faceoff in the two games that I watched. Horvat isn't getting the icetime in London yet but once they lose a few vets you will see this kid rise to the top. He's got great defensive awareness in his own zone and can absolutely dangle and fire the puck.
I've seen Horvat play this Sunday vs Ottawa 67's, he played a lot especially in the 3rd period, probably more than Domi and he was center sometimes and winger some other times, I thought he played better than Domi both on offense and defense, he and Domi are two kids I have only seen one time so I can't really judge and I would like to see them more. But for now I see Horvat as a better all-around player and with great dangles.

keep an eye out for Ryan Kujawinski in Kingston

the trade to Kingston and the added ice time has allowed him to flourish and get noticed more

I agree with you, saw him play this week against Belleville and he impressed me, I'll sure have a look on him until he gets draft!
