Hope he's okay. We can make due without him for a couple weeks, but we need him back for the playoffs.

Hopefully not serious, he probably just re-aggravated the same injury when he jammed it on the post the other night.

Hip pointers can be anywhere from a week to six weeks of discomfort. We'll know more tomorrow.

Rest him as long as he needs. We are in no need of extra points here down the stretch.

agreed rest the kid.........I dont see them bringing up Erixon, he just came back from injury and they have a ton of D on the active roster
for tomorrow ......McD, Girardi, Staal, Stralman, Scott, Eminger............Bickel to 4th line wing..........makes sense for the lefty/righty matchups
also waive Woywitka already so they can make a call up whenever they need instead of having to wait for waivers/clearing of Woywitka

Silver lining here is that Staal finally has a chance to play 20+ minutes a night and get back into his groove

I agree with the first part, not the second. Until we at least clinch the division we need the points.

he is practicing so due back now. He wont get called up if its day to day thing for DZ which I am sure it is.
Do people realize they have Woywitka and Eminger just sitting on their rears right now? Also Scott can play D

Get better MDZ. Worst case is that it's a few weeks but I believe he'll be fine.
They have all those Dmen sitting around anyway and Staal and Strahlman can handle top 4 for a few weeks if need be with some combo of Bickel/Eminger/Woywitka/Scott/Erixon handling bottom pair.
If injuries are going to happen, better now so these guys can be fresh for the playoffs.

unfortunately I missed tonights game. Guessing its the same hip he hurt on the post against Buffalo a couple days back.
No reason not to be cautious with it though, like many have said, we've got a number of d-men on the active roster, hope he gets better quick.

I don't want to be the skeptic or free thinker here but I have reason to believe MDZ has only ONE hip bone! Just a stab in the dark there.
Lol I know what you mean, and it was against NJ no? But if my guess is 3 games, 6 games max.

i liked scott playing as a winger and then being handy, when girardi and del zotto went down, to play defense. do the same with bickel. i love the flexibility. in fact, bickel and scott playing a couple shifts on defense and a couple as a forward each period makes sense to me. maximizes their value. gets them a few more minutes - meaning more rest for the top lines. assuming bickel and scott are up to the challenge. neat...

If its a hip pointer then he should sit out until its healed
NY doesn't need him right now
A healthy MDZ is very important for the 2nd season
